Measurement Of Information: A Review Article, Dariush Alimohammadi

Purpose - Measurement of information has long been studied for many years from different perspectives. Acknowledging this diversity, the article aims at reviewing approaches to the information measurement.

Design/methodology/approach – Literature review method was used to analyze and interpret main approaches of measuring information.

Findings - Logarithm, volume, syntax, probability and entropy, quantity, impact, value, and energy of information were identified and investigated in detail as the major approaches to the information measurement.

Originality/value - Discussing strengths and weaknesses of each approach, it concludes that a multi-dimensional approach would help us measure the information more accurate.

This study reveals the importance of parent’s literacy understanding towards children reading habits. By using a qualitative phenomenology approach and taking five Indonesian respondents who have children aged 6 to 12 years who are attending the Dutch basis school. this study concludes that the understanding of literacy which is owned by parents is very important as a mediator for the development and formation of children's reading habits. One of the main reasons businesses create a Facebook Page is to solidify relationships with existing customers who are Facebook users and to leverage those relationships to gain new customers. Many studies have asked Facebook users to articulate the gratifications they receive when “liking” a business Facebook Page. The purpose of this paper was to highlight the role of libraries in the provision of information towards the attainment of the United Nation Millennium Development Goals (MDGS) in Nigeria. With the methodology of simple literature review, the paper made efforts to review related literature on libraries’ role in the provision of information for development. The relationship between libraries and the Millennium Development Goals was also discussed. Suggestions were proffered on ways libraries can contribute to the achievement of the MDGs. The challenges faced by libraries were also highlighted. Based on the review of literature, the paper provided some recommendations.
