Nowadays, corporate social responsibility (CSR) is a concern of the food industry because of its wide range of potential benefits. Though CSR issues in the food industry are complicated, food safety rises as the ultimate CSR issue and receives the most attention from customers. Chinese Tourism Research Trends: A Social Network Analysis Of Doctoral Dissertations From 1999 To 2009, Xi Y. Leung, Lijun Xu, Billy Bai

Both the tourism industry and tourism education are growing rapidly in China. Due to language barrier, most of tourism research achievements in China remain unknown to international tourism research community. This study examines what Chinese tourism researchers have done by analyzing 200 tourism doctoral dissertations in China written between 1999 and 2010. Using the content analysis and social network analysis method, the study characterizes the current situation and trends of tourism research in China, including research topics, methods, and authors’ profile. The study also identifies topic evolution in tourism research.

This study aims to shed light on risk communication practices dealing with restaurant-associated food safety events depending on the type of events; hazard and outrage. Four food safety events associated with two major fast food restaurant chains, Wendy’s and Taco Bell, were examined in terms of their actions dealing with two types of events, E.coli outbreak and outrage events (2X2) by using content analysis and event study methodology (ESM). Content analysis results revealed how differently media covered hazard and outrage cases and ESM results demonstrated the significant impact of the type of events on cumulative abnormal returns.
