Following the September 11th, 2001 events, the United States has seen the first decline in employment expansion in over a decade. The services industry lost 111,000 jobs, mainly in travel-related businesses like hotels (46,000) and auto services (13,000), in particular auto rental agencies and parking services (U.S. Department of Labor, 2001). The hospitality industry, like many other sectors of the service industry is faced with the challenge of recruiting and retaining employees. Employment in the theme park and attraction industry is not an easy task. Human resource professionals are challenged on a daily basis with unique task of recruiting, selecting, …

In the Final Four that concluded yesterday in San Antonio basketball with a retro look graced the hardwood court (or was it some synthetic composite) for the first time in years. Those who have watched the University of Connecticut glide with precision to their undefeated season and NCAA Championship have been treated to a brand of basketball emphasizing team play, sharp cuts and passes, and a group of women who play with great intensity and joy.

Faculty Bibliography 2000s
Virtual environments (VEs) have been used successfully to train wayfinders to navigate through buildings and learn their layout. However, at the same time, for many, the VE deficiencies have reduced the effectiveness of VEs for training spatial tasks. Research participants were required to learn the layout or configuration of one floor of an office building as portrayed in a VE. To improve spatial learning, we developed three VE navigation training aids: local and global orientation cues, aerial …
