The focus of this study was to measure Mississippi teacher’s perspectives as identified in the Teacher’s Perspectives on Danielson’s Framework for Teaching (TPDFT) instrument. This quantitative study investigated whether or not statistically significant differences existed between domains as identified in the TPDFT, and if these findings differed statistically as a function of years of teaching experience, type of Mississippi teaching certification, and degree of professional trust. A 36-item survey instrument based on the 2013 version of Charlotte Danielson’s Framework for Teaching was developed. Individuals aged 18 or older who suffer from a serious mental illness (SMI) often have coexisting chronic physical health problems such as diabetes, hypertension, obesity, and cardiovascular disease. Multiple providers in various settings provide care for individuals with co-morbid SMI and physical health problems. Early, effective and efficient screening leads to successful treatment and management of patients with both SMI and chronic physical health complications. According to researchers, low health literacy is considered a worldwide health threat (Lee, Tsai-Tzul, Tsai, & Kuo, 2010). With the recent emphasis on healthcare and improving health status, knowledge has proven vital in the struggle for improved health status and health prevention. The purpose of this study was to investigate the measurement of health literacy utilizing a cross-validation approach. Competency-based education (CBE) has been around since the late 1800s but has recently served as a revamped pedagogy designed to respond to some of higher education’s most pressing issues today: low degree attainment and problems of equity; lack of alignment between education and the job market; low and slow graduation rates; high tuition; and poor academic quality. Despite the promises of CBE to resolve these issues, the approach to learning lacks much empirical data.
