The Kangal Phyllite-Slate Formation forms the basement rocks in Kangal-Çetinkaya-Alacahan-Divriği (Sivas). These late Paleozoic phyllite-slate associations occupy a large area, possibly composed of Early Paleozoic sediments in its lower part. The lower levels (Bakırtepe Metaquartzite Member; 0-500 m) and uppermost levels comprise the Düzce Recrystallized Limestone Member (0-25 m). The lower boundary is invisible and the upper boundary is unconformably overlain by the Kıratgediği Limestone (late Jurassic- early Cretaceous). The studied brachiopod fauna, about 400 specimens, was collected from the 150-m-thick uppermost part of the greenschist sequences in the Kulluk Hill area, Elkondu village, 25 km east of Kangal. Fatou, Julia, And Escaping Sets In Holomorphic (Sub)Semigroup Dynamics, Bishnu Hari Subedi, Ajaya Singh

We investigate under what conditions the Fatou, Julia, and escaping sets of a transcendental semigroup are respectively equal to the Fatou, Julia, and escaping sets of their subsemigroups. We define the partial fundamental set and fundamental set of a holomorphic semigroup, and on the basis of these sets, we prove that the Fatou and escaping sets of a transcendental semigroup $ S $ are nonempty.

Study On The Existence Of Solutions To Two Specific Types Of Differential-Difference Equations, Qiong Wang, Qiongyan Wang

Turkish Journal of Mathematics

This paper concerns the description of the entire or meromorphic solutions to two certain types of differential-difference equations under some certain conditions. The significance of our results lies in that we find the entire solutions of the second type equation with the form $f=Ae^{Bz}$, where $A,B$ are constants that are completely determined only by coefficients and correlated indices. Our results are accurate in a certain sense and are supplemented by an example. In particular, our results generalize and improve a result of Zhang and Huang, and they are closely related to recent results by Dong and Liao.

Specimens of Oreochromis niloticus (One control and 3 experimental groups) were fed diets mixed with different doses of mercury (control group = free of mercury; group 1 = 500 mg/kg; group 2 = 750 mg/kg, and group 3 = 1000 mg/kg) for 60 days in order to study its accumulation and histopathological alterations in the liver, gills, skeletal muscles, and skin. The results obtained revealed that mercury accumulation was significantly (P < 0.05) high in the liver and gills compared to the muscles and skin. The order of accumulation in these organs revealed to be liver > gills > muscles > skin. The fish fed various doses of mercury also showed histological alterations in these organs. Morphometric Analysis Of The Skulls Of Domestic Cattle (Bos Taurus L.) And Water Buffalo (Bubalus Bubalis L.) In Turkey, Ermi̇ş Özkan, Abu Bakar Siddiq, Ki̇fayet Oya Kahveci̇oğlu, Muhsi̇n Öztürk, Vedat Onar

A total of 20 domestic cattle (Bos taurus L.) and 15 water buffalo (Bubalis bubalis L.) skulls were analyzed in this study. All of the specimens belonged to female individuals. Using a total of 27 craniometric measurements from each of the skulls, 9 indices were calculated. Although there were statistically significant differences between the linear measurements of the skulls of both species, while calculating the indices with their ratios, the values of the measurements of the facial area were determinative in the craniology. Among these indices, the facial index 1 value was statistically significant (P < 0.01) in the comparison of these two species. On the other hand, while considering the orbit and foramen magnum measurements, in contrast with the transversal measurement, the height was more determinant for their index and form.

This paper presents the zooarchaeological observations on animal remains of Alaybeyi Höyük unearthed from 2016 and 2017 excavation sessions. Dated to 4721-4553 cal. BC, Alaybeyi stands so far as the oldest archaeological settlement discovered in northeast Anatolia. Therefore, the faunal assemblage at Alaybeyi offers great opportunity to study the status of animals and their relationships with humans in the largely unexplored Kars-Erzurum plateau covering a period from the Chalcolithic to Late Iron Age. Background/aim: Bacteremia remains an important cause of morbidity and mortality during febrile neutropenia (FN) episodes. We aimed to define the risk factors for bacteremia in febrile neutropenic children with hemato-oncological malignancies. Materials and methods: The records of 150 patients aged ?18 years who developed FN in hematology and oncology clinics were retrospectively evaluated. Patients with bacteremia were compared to patients with negative blood cultures.Results: The mean age of the patients was 7.5 ± 4.8 years. Leukemia was more prevalent than solid tumors (61.3% vs. 38.7%). Bacteremia was present in 23.3% of the patients. Coagulase-negative staphylococci were the most frequently isolated …

In this study, the electrospinning method was used to prepare polyvinyl alcohol (PVA)/chitosan (CS) blend nanofibers from their solutions. The effect of blend ratios (PVA/CS: 1%, 3%, 5%, and 7% (w/w)), applied voltage, and flow rate on the morphological, optical, and thermal properties of electrospun nanofibers were investigated by scanning electron microscopy (SEM), fluorescence and UV-Vis spectroscopies, and thermogravimetric analysis (TGA), respectively. Two new azo-Schiff base receptors (L$_{{1}}$ and L$_{{2}})$ containing azo and azomethine groups with a conjugated group (benzyl ring of anthranilic acid, in L$_{{1}})$ and electron-donating group (alkyl chain of hexanoic acid, in L$_{{2}})$ were synthesized and characterized. Azo-hydrazone/phenol-keto tautomerism and solvatochromism were investigated. Studying their sensing ability towards cations (Co$^{2+}$, Cu$^{2+}$, Zn$^{2+}$, Ni$^{2+}$, Pb$^{2+}$, Cd$^{2+}$, Mn$^{2+}$, Fe$^{3+}$, Cr$^{3+}$, and Al$^{3+})$, high sensitivity and selectivity were recorded for Fe$^{3+}$ by naked eye and UV-Vis spectra in DMF-aqueous HEPES buffer (v:v, 1:1, pH 6.8). Silver(I)-selective sensors were prepared from a solid-state contact polyvinyl chloride (PVC) membrane. ($Z)$-2-(2-((3-(2-hydroxyphenyl)-5-(p-tolyl)-1$H$-pyrrol-2-yl)imino)-5-(p-tolyl)-2$H$-pyrrol-3-yl)phenol was synthesized as an ionophore molecule and embedded in the silver(I)-selective PVC membrane composition. The optimum membrane composition was determined as 2.5% ionophore, 61.7% bis-(2-ethylhexyl)sebacate, 1.0% potassium tetrakis (p-chlorophenyl) borate, and 34.8% PVC. The developed sensor exhibited a linear potential change $E$ = 67.42 (-log [Ag$^{+}$]) $+$ 1152.9 and $R^{2}$ = 0.9960) in the varying concentration range of 1.0 $\times $ 10$^{-1}$ to 1.0 $\times $ 10$^{-5}$ mol L$^{-1}$ silver ions. The nanostructuring of hydroxyl-substituted diazacrown-ether (DC) by silver nanoparticles was obtained by green synthesis method in order to increase the antibacterial activity of silver nanoparticles. The synthesized DC, nanoparticles, and nanosupramolecular complex (Ag@DC) were studied by TEM, powder-XRD, and NMR, IR, and UV spectroscopy methods. The Ag@DC nanostructures were uniform and their sizes ranged from 8 to 18 nm. IR and UV spectra revealed the noncovalent formation of the nanosupramolecular complex. Mucolipidosis type II (ML-II, I-cell disease) is a fatal inherited lysosomal storage disease caused by a deficiency of the enzyme N-acetylglucosamine-1-phosphotransferase. Background/aim: We investigated the association of three IL-10 promoter single-nucleotide polymorphisms and altered IL-10 plasma levels with the risk of head and neck cancer (HNC). Materials and methods: Study subjects comprised 194 HNC patients [137 nasopharyngeal cancer (NPC) and 57 laryngeal cancer (LC)], and 263 healthy controls. Background/aim: To assess the efficacy and side effects of concurrent weekly chemotherapy and radiotherapy with simultaneous integrated boost (SIB) technique for nasopharyngeal cancer (NPC). Materials and methods: A total of 51 consecutive patients with diagnosis of NPC were treated between February 2010 and December 2015. The median dose for PTV70 (range: 60-82) was given in 33 fractions (range: 31-35). Forty-five of the patients received concomitant weekly chemotherapy between 3-7 cycles (median 6). Background/aim: In this study, we aimed to assess the cancer risk among patients with periodontal disease.Materials and methods: Patients diagnosed with periodontal diseases at Hacettepe University between 2007 and 2012 were included and data on the diagnosis of any cancer after periodontal disease were collected from patient files. The age- and sex-standardized incidence rates (SIRs) were calculated using Turkish National Cancer Registry 2013 data.Results: A total of 5199 patients were included. Median follow-up was 7.2 years.
