Test Anxiety In Undergraduate Nursing Students: Implementation Of A Brief Mindfulness Exercise, Lesley Locken Bonfe

Doctor of Nursing Practice Projects

Nursing students experience test anxiety that may compromise their performance on class examinations, affecting their trajectory through their prelicensure nursing program. Nurse educators significantly impact student outcomes throughout the curriculum and are integral in supporting students with test anxiety. It is imperative to recognize precipitating factors of test anxiety and appoint prophylactic interventions for alleviating stressful situations. In turn, this will provide nursing students with practical and supportive strategies to alleviate testing-induced stress. This scholarly paper discusses the implementation of a brief mindfulness exercise before class examinations to combat test anxiety in undergraduate nursing students at a small midwestern college. …

Stress And Anxiety In Undergraduate Nursing Students Within The Clinical Environment: A Literature Review, Gina Byron May 2018

Stress And Anxiety In Undergraduate Nursing Students Within The Clinical Environment: A Literature Review, Gina Byron

Doctor of Nursing Practice Projects

The clinical practicum experience is fundamental to nursing education. It’s within these learning environments that students have the opportunity to apply their classroom knowledge and skills obtained in lab with patients, families and the interdisciplinary team while enhancing their clinical judgement. The clinical environment is much anticipated by students, but feelings of stress, anxiety and intimidation are common. These feelings of stress, anxiety, and intimidation inhibit their learning and lead to higher attrition rates (Turner, McCarthy, 2015). The main purpose of this paper is to identify specific causes of stress and anxiety faced by undergraduate nursing students and to couple …

Abstract

Each year children enter into group childcare settings. This is both a necessity for working parents and can be a great introduction to their first group education program. Along with the positive aspects of group care come some negatives. Toddlers show signs of stress such as crying at drop off that can last from a moment to many hours during the day. Toddlers can be very social but must learn how to navigate these social interactions by sharing, taking turns, waiting for materials to become available, and receiving less individual attention from a single caregiver. In this Action Research …
