This action research investigated the effects of parent engagement strategies on the level of parent involvement in kindergarten. Parents may have barriers preventing them from becoming more involved in their child’s schooling. Many parents have younger children they take care of, work full time jobs, and are unaware of how they can get more involved at home. In this study, various strategies were implemented to help increase levels of engagement. This action research project examined the effects of mindfulness activities on teacher spirituality. It was conducted during a two-month Early Childhood Montessori teacher training course with eight female teachers between the ages of 25 and 50. Data was collected with the use of attitude scales, self-reflection journals, field notes and conversations. Conclusions showed participants perceived an increase in spirituality and gained inner peace, patience, kindness, humility, self-respect. They also showed they gained the ability to let go of negative energy, achieving calmness and positivism. Nursing unions are currently on the rise in the United States and therefore their implications to the Nursing profession are becoming more relevant. This paper will explore the history of unions in the profession of Nursing, the goals of nursing unions, and evidence regarding the impact nursing unions have on patient outcomes. This background will give Nurse Educators (NEs) the information needed when considering including the topic of nursing unions into nursing curricula. Finally, the implications for NE practice when adding nursing unions into curricula will be outlined.

Shame is a powerful emotion and experience that impacts how individuals interpret a situation, and often their behavior. It correlates with a number of mental health conditions that are commonly treated by psychotherapists, and yet the explicit or implicit treatment of shame directly or simultaneous to the disorder is less common. The prevalence of simulation in prelicensure nursing programs has increased, with most programs having integrated simulation into their nursing curriculum. Standards, guidelines, and recommendations defining best practice in prelicensure nursing simulation have been published since the inception of the St. Catherine University (SCU) Associate Degree (AD) nursing simulation program. Therefore, it is prudent to assess the simulation program to determine needed revisions to assure best practices are being met.
