Standardization of patient discharges by utilizing a discharge checklist would address discharge barriers, improve discharge times, enhance communication among the multidisciplinary team, and improve efficiency of care. A 5-week pilot, which was a quality improvement study, explored whether the utilization of a discharge checklist would improve discharge times and communication among the multidisciplinary team. This study was conducted in a northern California county hospital, on 2 medical- surgical units, with a participating physician team, case managers, and approximately 150 medical- surgical registered nurses. The study yielded results of improved discharge times by 1 hour, and improved efficiency of care by …

In communication episodes featuring heightened stress, interactions that are perceived as threatening and evoke a sense of powerlessness often predict a cycle of victimization. Meanwhile, social interactions which affirm safety and agency amidst stress foster empowerment. Latinx patients are among those who experience racial health disparities, typically due to the lack of health literacy support and limited resource access. Characterized by hyper-urban environments, extreme class division, and an abundance ofcorporate oversight, the cyberpunk subgenre of science-fiction is a prime candidate for scholarly research on speculative interior design and associated technologies. In this study, Rogers' diffusion of innovation theory was the framework for implementing the handoff safety checklist. Propriety Of Self-Disclosure On Facebook: An Examination Of Its Impact On Credibility, Katherine Colleen Ireland

This experimental study examined the effects of the propriety of computer-mediated teacher self-disclosure on perceptions of teacher credibility and how that relationship is moderated by ethnicity. Participants were assigned to one of four conditions: White Appropriate, Latina Appropriate, White Inappropriate, and Latina Inappropriate. Participants answered questions about the instructor's perceived credibility. Results suggest that teachers who engaged in appropriate self-disclosure were rated higher on teacher credibility than those with inappropriate Facebook® profiles. There was no main effect for ethnicity. Implications for classroom pedagogy, technology use, and areas for future research are discussed.

Discussing a border's location, how it functions, and who is allowed to cross it can quickly give rise to heated arguments that at times escalate to violent disputes. In order to better understand the tension surrounding borders, a mediated-rhetorical critique of National Geographic's television show Border Wars was conducted. Current scholarly research on first generation college (FGC) students is concerned with attrition rates of these students and other ways institutions of higher education count FGC students. However, much of this research focuses on negative characteristics (e.g., "at-risk," low income) often associated with the FGC student community. Despite the risks associated with drinking and driving, this behavior continues to occur. This study explores drunk driving, sibling loss, and loss during emerging adulthood. It is important to study this new media use because it can reveal much about how communication patterns are changing or evolving as adolescents incorporate new media seamlessly into their lives.

The purpose of this study was to examine parental perceptions related to the care and management of children with Type 1 diabetes at school. Parents of elementary and middle school-age children with Type 1 diabetes completed a survey questionnaire, which included one open-ended question. The questionnaire was developed by the researchers based on original questionnaires by Nabors, Lehmkuhl, Christos, and Andreone (2003) and Lewis, Powers, Goodenough and Poth (2003 ).
