Cookool: A Futuristic Cooking Innovation, Guannan Ling

Theses

Cookool is a futuristic innovation project that utilizes real-time interactive design and technology to display cooking information seamlessly, aiming to create a cool, friendly, and relaxed cooking experience for everyone to try, learn, and fall in love with. In traditional kitchens, people often face various challenges such as choosing dishes and controlling temperatures. However, in the future, our kitchen will leverage AI technology to precisely recommend dishes based on personal preferences, utilize thermal detection to monitor utensil temperatures, and leverage hologram and AR technology to showcase recipes and cooking processes, making cooking simpler. Yet, technology alone cannot create an inclusive …

Biodov: A Tool Used To Encourage Discovery In Bioinformatics Through Gamification, Gregory D. Johnson Jr.

Theses

Expressing big data in a meaningful manner is exceptionally difficult. Scientists often struggle with the visualization of data due to several limitations. Currently, many scientists use two-dimensional figures to display and analyze meaningful data. However, I believe using game design theory and game technologies, we can create more robust visualizations. These visualizations will allow scientists to easily communicate science to the masses and make better discoveries. Therefore, we introduce BioDOV (Biological Data Oriented Visualization). This tool will utilize game design principles to expand upon current visualization methods in the scientific community. Through this proof of concept, we will create the …

Look At The Bigger Picture: Analyzing Eye Tracking Data With Multi-Dimensional Visualization, Anjali Jogeshwar

Theses

Eye tracking has proven to be a valuable tool for a number of disciplines such as imaging science, vision science, psychology, and neurology. They have used eye-tracking to study the human visual system and to understand how humans attend to their environment for different tasks. Analyzing the gaze data obtained from eye-trackers begins with visualizing the gaze point. By monitoring gaze we can answer questions including, ‘where was the person looking?’ and ‘what image region or object was the person looking at?’ Traditional methods aimed at answering such questions from gaze data: required frame-by-frame analysis of videos, manually annotating gaze. …
