Growth rates and diet patterns for sympatric pallid sturgeon Scaphirhynchus albus and shovelnose sturgeon S. platorynchus throughout the Missouri River and lower Mississippi River were examined. Pallid sturgeon growth in the Great Plains Management Unit (GPMU) was slower than in other river reaches until age 9 and pallid sturgeon from the Interior Highlands Management Unit (IHMU) and Coastal Plain Management Unit (CPMU) did not differ. No differences in growth between management units were detected for shovelnose sturgeon. Diet Quality And Mental Health In College Students: Impact On Dietary Factors Including Intake Of Protein, Sugar, Vegetable And Omega-3 Fatty Acid On Depression, Yulu Wang

Depression is one of the most debilitating disorders among youth. Many factors impact depression risk, and dietary quality is one of the most significant modifiable factors. This work was to investigate whether diet quality, including protein, sugar, vegetables, and omega-3 fatty acids’ intake, had any effect on the development of depression. Data from 82 subjects were used for analysis. There was no significant relationship between Dietary Quality Index (p=.21, n=82) and depression based on this research. Practitioner Viewpoints On Diet And Inflammatory Bowel Disease, Eytan Ish Stern

Diet is a key factor in the development and progression of Inflammatory Bowel Disease (IBD). A variety of diets have been studied with IBD patients. This cross-sectional survey identified current healthcare practitioner views on different diets and their efficacy with IBD patients. Diets were rated on awareness, compliance, and contributors to success by participants (n = 181). Frequencies were conducted, and ANOVA with Duncan pairwise comparison or chi-square analysis were used to determine significant differences. Most participants (96%) and 98% of registered dietitians (RD) considered using diet to help treat IBD patients. RDs perceived the low fiber or low residue …
