Green Chemistry education is a widening field, seeking to include educators at all levels collaboratively in the process of transforming outdated chemistry practices. Qualitative research methods were used to interview three key collaborator groups at Beyond Benign, a green chemistry education organization, who are considered part of the Green Chemistry Community of Practice (GCCoP). The significance of land use policy entails the key areas of land use planning, infrastructure development, and urban sprawl. Situated in a densely populated area with a large waterfront, the Dorchester neighborhood of Boston, Massachusetts is a community with immense potential to revolutionize the urban landscape. The artistic movements from cultural influences within the city are growing which shows clear benefits to increased placemaking through community events. Social Justice is a concept which is often glossed over or excluded from student education, particularly the issues associated with Environmental Justice. Discrimination, oppression, and poor environmental practices all coalesce into dangerously impactful issues, which can be combated by further education and exposure. This project was conducted to examine the environmental social justice issues in the United States and how they are linked to health issues in younger children in low-income communities and people of color through the lenses of multiple theoretical frameworks. The workshop was focused on educating youth from other communities of people of color, providing them resources so that while bridging the cultural gaps they will become allies. The targeted audience was Asian-Indian youth of Maharashtrian communities across the country. The overdevelopment of cities has caused residents to suffer from environmental and economic harm. Situated near a steel mill and a highway, and with less than 20% tree canopy, the Slavic Village neighborhood of Cleveland, Ohio is a community that may be in need of environmental justice. The movement to introduce green elements to urban environments is growing, and there are clear economic benefits to greening urban areas. The purpose of this study was to gather a deeper understanding of the SEND Program at Merrimack College. This program evaluation sought to determine if the SEND Program was meeting its short-term outcomes for the program. The current literature highlights the important and significant aspects of alternative break/global service-learning programs as they can provide great educational experiences for students. A survey was sent out to a cohort of alumni SEND participants to gather their perspectives of the program. Every person, regardless of their age, race, sex, class, disability or religion should have access and the resources needed to be an active participant in their community. The goal of this project is to highlight the importance of creating opportunities for the aging population to be involved in community initiatives and in particular, environmental initiatives. This project is meant to create awareness of senior’s role and capabilities to be active in a community, potential barriers older adults face in participation and the importance of acknowledging and including older adults in community conversations that have the potential to impact their future.
