Middle school can be a precarious time for students and teachers. During this seemingly difficult time, some students cope by participating in choir. Studies outline that middle school choir can be notably beneficial for students. Media messages play a crucial part in teaching people how to view themselves and others through the representations of things like gender roles, racial groups, and perceptions of what is deemed beautiful. There is an abundance of stereotypical images of Black women in the media. In addition, they are also inundated with unrealistic beauty standards reflective of Eurocentric ideals of attractiveness that do not include them. This integrative review explores the efficacy of incorporating faith-based (Christian/spiritual) interventions within the framework of Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) to prevent non-suicidal self-injury (NSSI) among adolescents aged 11-19. As the prevalence of NSSI among this demographic group continues to rise, understanding the potential benefits and challenges of integrating faith-based components into evidence-based therapeutic approaches is crucial. The review synthesizes existing literature, drawing on empirical studies, theoretical frameworks, and clinical evidence to assess the impact of faith-based integration in DBT. Despite societal and cultural trends toward acceptance, the LGBTQ+ community continues to endure stressors related to their minority status, often in the form of microaggressions. As the average age of “coming out” is much younger than in years past, a greater number of adolescents are now subject to these same stressors. The purpose of this transcendental phenomenological study was to understand middle and high school administrators’ perceived influence of social media on school discipline and student behavior in southeastern Virginia. Bandura’s social cognitive theory and Skinner’s behavioral theory of operant conditioning guided this study and provided the theoretical framework for learning through observation and reinforcement. Individual experiences inform psychological adjustment, academic achievement, and trait-specific behaviors during adolescence. The formation of their identity is further dependent upon social and emotional interactions such as those experienced in the social learning environment.
