Lawn Fete To Be Given By Members Of St. Luke's Church Wednesday

The members of St. Luke's church, Danville, will give a lawn fete in St. Luke's grove, rear of church, next Wednesday evening, August 31. Fine supper will be served from 5 p. m. Refreshments and amusements. Music by the Danville band. All are welcome. In case of rain the lawn fete will be given the following evening, Sept. 1st.

Henry E. Thomas has commenced a suit in the court of common pleas against Thompson Cooper lodge, No. 7, order of the Knights of Pythias (colored). The plaintiff cliams that his son, the late Henry J. Thomas, carried a life insurance policy in the lodge for $300 amd that the beneficiary named in the policy was Jessie May Thomas, the wife of the deceased. The plaintiff states that for a certain consideration the said Jessie May Thomas assigned the police to the plaintiff in this action. The pastors of the city entertained with a 6 o'clock dinner Saturday evening at the banquet room of the Y.M.C.A. in honor of Rev. and Mrs. Elwell O. Mead, who are soon to leave the city. Covers were laid for 15. The dinner was served by Caterer Frank Turner. At the conclusion of the dinner a very pleasant evening was spent in social discourse in the parlors of the Y.M.C.A
