Job Satisfaction And The Internship In State Level Law Enforcement, Catherine J. Sapp Dec 2011

Job Satisfaction And The Internship In State Level Law Enforcement, Catherine J. Sapp

Electronic Theses and Dissertations

Increased job satisfaction, in turn, produces higher retention rates which may lead to making the state level investigative law enforcement field a more stable environment. Impact Of Peer Evaluation Confidentiality On Student Marks, Christina Hamme Peterson, N.Andrew Peterson Jul 2011

Impact Of Peer Evaluation Confidentiality On Student Marks, Christina Hamme Peterson, N.Andrew Peterson

International Journal for the Scholarship of Teaching and Learning

Although group work is commonly used in university-level instruction, social loafing, domineering team members, poor attenders, and inequitable distribution of marks have been identified as obstacles to team-based learning. Peer evaluation has been proposed as one vehicle to address these issues. For use in grading, peer evaluations are often anonymous; however, as tools to address team functioning, they should not be conducted anonymously, but rather with the results discussed as feedback. It has been suggested, however, that non-confidential peer evaluations will artificially elevate students’ marks. In this study, we investigated the impact of peer evaluation confidentiality on students’ marks. Without …

Assessing The Pedagogical Impact Of The Vanth Engineering Research Center On Faculty And Postdoctoral Professionals, Monica F. Cox, James Cawthorne, Nathan Mcneill, Osman Cekic, Matthew Frye, Melissa J. Stacer

International Journal for the Scholarship of Teaching and Learning

From 1999 to 2007, the Vanderbilt-Northwestern-Texas-Harvard/MIT (VaNTH) Engineering Research Center focused on improving bioengineering education through the applications of learning science, learning technology, and assessment and evaluation within the domain of bioengineering. This paper discusses results from a survey to explore the impact of the VaNTH experience on participating faculty and postdoctoral professionals. The results note that respondents differed in their familiarity with and applications of dimensions of the “How People Learn” framework and in their operationalization of effective instruction after their participation in VaNTH. Implications for teaching and learning with the context of a Center model are discussed along …
