The Determination Of Lung Function Using Impulse Oscillometry And Spirometry, MéCole Vordalander Ingram Aug 2006

The Determination Of Lung Function Using Impulse Oscillometry And Spirometry, MéCole Vordalander Ingram

Electronic Theses and Dissertations

This study was designed to establish normative data for individuals 18-22 years old using oscillometry by comparing the values to spirometry. Oscillometry is a less invasive procedure for respiratory testing than spirometry testing. One hundred and forty-two participants completed self-assessment questionnaires, along with body composition measurements and at least three trials each of oscillometry and spirometry testing. The results of the study conclude that no normative data could be established in this study over all resistance (R) and reactance (X) frequencies for males and females. The secondary goal of this study was to examine the effects of smoking, physical activity, …

Effects Of Resistance And Aerobic Exercise On Physical Self-Efficacy And Social Physique Anxiety In Female College Students, Michele Yeager Martin

Electronic Theses and Dissertations

This study examines the effects of resistance and aerobic exercise on Social Physique Anxiety (SPA) and Physical Self-Efficacy (PSE) over a 3-week time period. Participants (n=44, mean age=21.11 yesrs) were randomly assigned to one of four treatment groups: Aerobic, Resistance, Combination, or Control. Measures of SPA and PSE were taken as baseline and after the 3-week period. Two-way ANOVAs revealed a singificant difference in SPA, confidence, and ability over time across all groups.
