This paper is designed to expose vulnerabilities within the US electoral system, the use of cyberspace to exploit weaknesses within the information assurance strategies of the democratic and republican party organizations, and deficiencies within the social media communications and voting machine exploits. West Nile virus (WNV) infection results in a spectrum of neurological symptoms, ranging from a benign fever to severe WNV neuroinvasive disease with high mortality. Many who recover from WNV neuroinvasive infection present with long-term deficits, including weakness, fatigue, and cognitive problems. While neurons are a main target of WNV, other cell types, especially astrocytes, play an important role in promoting WNV-mediated central nervous system (CNS) damage. Conversely, it has been shown that cultured primary astrocytes secrete high levels of interferons (IFNs) immediately after WNV exposure to protect neighboring astrocytes, as well as neurons. Measuring Person-Job Fit and Career Paths of Distance Learning Librarians

While person-job fit has been used to determine satisfaction in many professions, no research has been done among distance learning (DL) librarians. This study explores that concept by investigating person-job fit among librarians with primary DL responsibility compared to librarians with partial DL responsibility and whether a common career path exists among the two groups. Responses appear to suggest that DL librarians perceive a strong compatibility between their needs and desires and their jobs while both groups indicate that career advancement has been the primary factor concerning career path decisions.

Nonlocal Symmetries For Time-Dependent Order Differential Equations, Andrei Ludu

A new type of ordinary differential equation is introduced and discussed: time-dependent order ordinary differential equations. These equations are solved via fractional calculus by transforming them into Volterra integral equations of second kind with singular integrable kernel. The solutions of the time-dependent order differential equation represent deformations of the solutions of the classical (integer order) differential equations, mapping them into one-another as limiting cases. This equation can also move, remove or generate singularities without involving variable coefficients. An interesting symmetry of the solution in relation to the Riemann zeta function and Harmonic numbers is observed.

A hot wire anemometer circuit has a calibrate subcircuit and an operate subcircuit which are selectively invoked via a user-activate mode switch. The calibrate subcircuit includes a detector configured to compare an amplified sensor voltage with an amplified drive voltage and output an indicator signal when the two voltages match. The drive voltage is derived from a user-adjusted drive resistance of a bridge subcircuit. The operate circuit includes a feedback loop which provides a signal to a bride node of a bridge circuit. This Standardization Roadmap for Unmanned Aircraft Systems, Version 1.0 (“roadmap”) represents the culmination of the UASSC’s work to identify existing standards and standards in development, assess gaps, and make recommendations for priority areas where there is a perceived need for additional standardization and/or pre-standardization R&D.

The roadmap has examined 64 issue areas, identified a total of 60 gaps and corresponding recommendations across the topical areas of airworthiness; flight operations (both general concerns and application-specific ones including critical infrastructure inspections, commercial services, and public safety operations); and personnel training, qualifications, and certification. The Investigating Near Space Interaction Regions (INSpIRe) observatory is an adapt- able research facility that is designed to use Fabry-Perot interferometer (FPI) to study the faint Balmer series emissions of the terrestrial upper thermosphere and exosphere, collectively known as the geocorona. This instrumentation is designed to be deployable to a clear-air site, necessitating remote operations of the entire observatory, including control and monitoring. The facility currently employs a siderostat to allow for pointing at sky targets, a pressure-tuned dual-etalon FPI to allow for high spectral resolution (R_80,000) measurements, and several charge-coupled device (CCD) imagers for guiding and collecting data. Modeling biological processes, such as algae growth, is an area of ongoing research. The ability to understand the multitude of parameters that influence this system provides a platform for better understanding the dynamics of microalgae growth. Empirical modeling efforts look to understand sources of driving nutrients that influence harmful algal blooms (HABs). These harmful algal blooms are dense aggregates that have an increasingly negative impact on local economics, marine and freshwater systems, and public health. Phase-change materials (PCMs) are a useful alternative to more traditional methods of thermal management of Li-ion batteries in electric or hybrid-electric vehicles. PCMs are materials which absorb large amounts of latent heat and undergo solid-to-liquid phase change at near-constant temperature. The goal of this thesis is to experimentally investigate the thermal properties of a novel shape-stabilized PCM/HDPE composite extruded filament. The extruded filament can then be used in a 3D printer for custom PCM/HDPE shapes. Through this thesis research the problem of controllability and propulsion associated with scaling-up consumer drones to vehicles that may carry significantly larger payloads, including passenger will be analyzed and tested. Controllability is mainly compromised due to the increasing response time of a larger rpm controlled rotor. This requires a more powerful motor, which translates into heavier and larger devices compromising the thrust-to-weight ratio. The presence of propellant slosh dynamics in a spacecraft system during a maneuver leads to attitude control system (ACS) performance degradation resulting in attitude tracking errors and instability. As spacecraft missions become more complex and involve longer durations, a substantial propellant mass is required to achieve the mission objectives and perform orbital maneuvers. The present study explored the applicable situational leadership styles of experienced military managers attending an advanced leadership educational program. While attending this program, these managers were requested to reveal the results of their situational leadership self-assessment in which they participated. A total of 620 managers agreed to reveal their results, and descriptive statistics were conducted to determine the findings of their situational leadership self-assessments. The study of tornado outbreaks has been well documented, however, there has only been a few on Florida tornado outbreaks. This study details the composite dynamic and thermodynamic conditions associated with these events. Consistent with past research, a tornado outbreak was defined as 4 or more tornadoes occurring within a 24-h period during the winter and early spring months (Dec–May) from 1979–2016. December–May was chosen to eliminate tornado outbreaks that were associated with tropical cyclones.

In total, 35 outbreaks were identified using archived severe weather reports. Composites were produced using the North American Regional Reanalysis (NARR).Initial results show Florida tornado …

However, when the Florida East Coast Railway was built, one section was artificially shrunk by building peninsulas to make it easier to build a bridge across.
