This research topic was selected because no in-depth comparative analysis has yet been published on these writers. Valery is one of the greatest French 'philosophers' and writers and Borges is an outstanding contemporary writer. The objective of this thesis is to further understanding of the density of their texts. This thesis will also concentrate on their original literary styles and a certain number of their unconventional and untraditional techniques. In 1554, in a dying Medieval Spain a novel was published. The author is still anonymous, and the real reasons for his anonymity are yet to be determined. However, with the birth of this short autobiographical novel an entire literary genre emerged. One question could come to mind when one reads the title of this work, that is: "What do Persian and Spanish literature have in common?"
