Mosaic: A Dynamic Menu Interface For End Users And System Administrators, Jay M. Lightfoot
Mosaic: A Dynamic Menu Interface For End Users And System Administrators, Jay M. Lightfoot
Journal of International Information Management
The environment for corporate computing has become much more complex than the average end user is willing to comprehend. A solution to this problem is the development of menu shells and user-interface management systems. This paper describes the design and use of a menu shell called Mosaic. In addition to the traditional shell function of running user programs, Mosaic provides security, improves data integrity, furnishes debugging and data usage support, and aids the system administrator in day-to-day tasks. Mosaic was used successfully at a medium- sized electronics corporation for two years.

The Effects Of Parent Volunteers On A Child's Literacy Growth, Francesca Marie Formolo
The Effects Of Parent Volunteers On A Child's Literacy Growth, Francesca Marie Formolo
Theses Digitization Project
Research has shown that the more active parents are in their child's education the more likely their child is to achieve academic success. Based on these findings this research project focused on how parent volunteers influenced their child's literacy growth. It is hypothesized that as the parent spends time in the classroom they are given more opportunities to interact with other members of the classroom community. It is believed that this interaction will influence the way in which the parent works with their child and have a positive influence on their child's literacy growth.

Attitudes Toward Hiring And Working With Homosexuals In Southern California Law Enforcement Agencies, James Frederick Doyle
Attitudes Toward Hiring And Working With Homosexuals In Southern California Law Enforcement Agencies, James Frederick Doyle
Theses Digitization Project
The purpose of this research is to examine the acceptability of male homosexuals in law enforcement as determined by those currently employed as sworn officers in Southern California. Law enforcement has historically been reluctant to accept "outsiders" within its ranks. It has only been within the last 25 years that women and minorities have sought to enter the law enforcement profession in significant numbers, and it took legislative action and law suits to make this a reality.
