Since the CZU Lightning Complex fire of August 2020 burned through most of the buildings and historical data that resided at Swanton Pacific Ranch (SPR), finding a new way to share the land’s rich history has become imperative. The purpose of our project was to do just that. We aimed to create an interactive chatbot called “Poppy” that could be accessible both online and at SPR, allowing users to learn more about the ranch and its surrounding areas. This chatbot allows users to explore a multi-level map of the ranch, ask any questions they may have about the ranch, and …

Since the outbreak of COVID-19 pandemic, hospitals have experienced an overwhelming increase in patients needing respiratory assistance. Our client identified the need for a sustainable, affordable, and portable outpatient device that will provide supplemental oxygen and assisted breathing to speed up the patient recovery process. Our team accomplished to design a device that contains a more sustainable oxygen supply method, has a longer functional duration, is safer and ergonomic, as well as compact.

Carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions from burning fossil fuels is the major contributor to climate change. Carbon capture from flue gas, is an attractive short-term approach to partially address the issue of climate change. Metal organic frameworks (MOFs), synthesized using organic linker molecules and metal joints, are among the most promising solid adsorbents for CO2 capture applications. Ƴ-cyclodextrin, a hydrophobic and eco-friendly MOF, has been tested for sorption of CO2, however, minimal sorption was observed. One of the potential reasons for this low sorption is the large pore volumes inside the γ-cyclodextrin (γ – CD) MOF. Thus, the objective of this …
