This thesis addresses practices of hospitality to strangers at the Friendswood Church of Christ. God shares his life with us in diverse and robust ways; therefore, God's practices of hospitality become the model for the church's practices of hospitality. The purpose of the project was to expand the church's perspective of hospitality by identifying and affirming the ways we, as a church and as individuals, are currently practicing hospitality at Friendswood Church of Christ and by exploring new opportunities to expand our practices of hospitality. Promoting Shalom Among The North A Church Of Christ Through The Practice Of Slow Reading, Gregory Jack Fleming

This doctor of ministry thesis presents the results of a project to promote shalom among some members at the North "A" Church of Christ. The intervention consisted of introducing the practice of lectio divina to a group of volunteers that provide a lunch each Monday to students from a nearby high school, focusing in each of five reading sessions on Jeremiah 29:4-14. In a sixth session an outside expert observed the volunteers as they prepared and served the lunch and then conducted a group interview, seeking signs of shalom among the volunteers.
