Public College Students' Academic Experiences And Performance In Utah's Religious Enclave, Joe Peterson
UNLV Retrospective Theses & Dissertations
Many American colleges were established in "religious enclaves," regions dominated by somewhat homogeneous religious cultures that were formed when cobelievers experienced socially inhospitable conditions and removed themselves from the culturally diverse mainstream and gathered into more homogeneous cultural strongholds. Through modernization and urbanization, many former religious enclaves have evolved into pluralistic social settings; however, one large enclave remains. Mormons On The Warfront: The Protestant Mormons And Catholic Mormons Of Northern Ireland, Claudia W. Harris
BYU Studies Quarterly
The conflict in Northern Ireland between Catholics and Protestants places Mormons, members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, in an impossibly difficult position, being shunned by both sides. Claudia Harris tells of her research in both the Republic of Ireland and Northern Ireland in the 1980s, staying the homes of Mormons and hearing of their experiences. Many Mormons were serving in various security forces and thus were paramilitary targets. Harris tells the stories and explores the cultural mindset of Irish Mormons.

A Discussion Of The Inter-Relations Of The Latter-Day Saints And The American Indians, Julina Smith
A Discussion Of The Inter-Relations Of The Latter-Day Saints And The American Indians, Julina Smith
Theses and Dissertations
This study is an attempt to bring together available material, heretofore not collected, into a single publication pertaining to the policy of the Latter-day Saints in the treatment of the Indians - a policy that was largely peculiarly their own. The endeavor is here made to show that this plan, besides being the best method to insure protection for the Saints against unexpected hostilities, was also a means of education for the red man in the arts of peace.
