The Dimensions Of Entrepreneurial Orientation In Franchise Networks: Exploring The Role Of Franchisee Associations, Peter Balsarini, Claire Lambert

Research outputs 2022 to 2026

This study explores how a state-based franchisee association of a multinational quick-service restaurant franchisor introduced three world-first innovations through the activation of the five dimensions of entrepreneurial orientation (EO). The antecedents to this activation were also explored. A historical extended case study focusing on a revelatory case was undertaken. In-depth analysis using a rigorous qualitative methodology was facilitated by the triangulation of informant interviews, publicly available data, archival data, and artefacts. The three innovations explored involved the apparent activation of all five dimensions of EO by the franchisee association. The franchisee association’s structure and the provenance of its franchisee members, …

Research outputs 2022 to 2026

Reformulating packaged foods has the potential to improve the nutrient density of the global diet. The present perspective illustrates The Kraft Heinz Company’s approach to product (re)formulation to develop healthier product lines that are lower in saturated fats, total sugars, and sodium, and contain health promoting components. Here we present the rationale for The Kraft Heinz Company’s global nutrition targets used for the global innovation and renovation of foods and beverages. The global nutrition targets use a category specific approach to set maximum levels for the main nutrients of public health concern: saturated fat, total sugars and sodium, taking into …

Purpose: The purpose of this study is to investigate the structure and dynamics of academic articles relating to public procurement (PP) in the period 1984–2022 (up to May). The researchers also intend to analyse how this knowledge domain has grown since 1984. Design/methodology/approach: A bibliometric analysis was carried out to examine the existing state of PP research. Based on 640 journal articles indexed in the Scopus database and written by 1,247 authors over nearly four decades, a bibliometric analysis was conducted to reveal the intellectual structure of academic works pertaining to PP. Findings: Findings reveal that PP research from Scopus …

Public Procurement For Innovation Through Supplier Firms' Sustainability Lens: A Systematic Review And Research Agenda, Peter Adjei-Bamfo, Hadrian Geri Djajadikerta, Ferry Jie, Kerry Brown, Reza Kiani Mavi

Research outputs 2022 to 2026

Public sector purchasing processes are gaining increasing prominence as a demand-side innovation tool for addressing national sustainability challenges. Accordingly, there has been growing research attention to this topic. Prior studies suggest three key rationales that underlie the use of public sector procurement to drive innovation: (i) the buyer–user rationale (for creating new needs); (ii) the market/system failure rationale (for improving suppliers' capacity to innovate); and (iii) the public services rationale (for improving public services). However, operational activities at the upstream supply chain affecting the sustainable innovation capacities of supplier firms appear to be under-researched in the public procurement for innovation …

Research outputs 2022 to 2026

Societies are confronted with grand challenges that require the efforts and coordination of diverse stakeholders. In this context, the role of for-profit organizations has become vital in addressing such challenges. Drawing on the strategy tripod perspective, this study investigated the influence of reverse engineering on frugal product-innovation performance (PIP) through the mediating effect of frugal innovation (i.e., cost innovation, and affordable value innovation). In addition, we examined the moderating impact of the industry environment (i.e., technological turbulence) and institutional context (i.e., legal inefficiency) on this relationship. We tested our hypotheses using time-lagged data from 243 small to medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) …

Research outputs 2022 to 2026

Sustainable future depends on ways in which we keep upgrading our living style. The goals and targets set by Sustainable Development Goals will definitely help us to protect all types of ecosystems and their biodiversity. Still, much more complementary advances in technology and innovation and their applications are essential in realising realizing a sustainable future. The aims and scope of Environmental Technology & Innovation is well geared to contribute to such ambition. Thus, this virtual special issue (VSI) contains 23 articles from the presentations made at the international conference on the Challenges in Environmental Science and Engineering, CESE-2021. A brief …
