The video game Animal Crossing: New Horizons (ACNH) was released in March 2020, just as the world was going into lockdown due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Designed for children ages 3 and up, ACNH hosts a large player base from a wide variety of ages. For many, the idea of building an idyllic, remote island and connecting with friends online has been a valuable outlet in a time of isolation. He was 27 years old and although he could speak Russian, Czeck/Slovakian, Polish and a little Spanish, he didn’t know English. He got a dictionary and began studying the language.

Six students from Gardner-Webb University competed recently in the annual Big South Conference Quiz Bowl hosted by High Point University. The team finished second in preliminary competition, and Cameron Walters, a junior music composition major from Bessemer City, N.C., had the third highest individual score. The annual Quiz Bowl is organized by the Big South Academic Consortium.

An English major with a creative writing emphasis, Sanchez lives in Richmond, Va., and has worked as an editor for BibleStudyTools.com and as a temporary content publishing associate for Crosswalk.com, both owned by Salem Web Network, an Internet provider of Christian content and online streaming.
