Objective: A new type of natural food preservative with pork liver as the main raw material was developed. Methods: Water-soluble porcine liver protein (WSLP), salt-soluble porcine liver protein (SSLP) and chitosan (CS) were combined to create edible composite membranes. The edible membrane components were then examined from a variety of perspectives using mechanical properties, Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FT-IR) and microstructure analysis. The present study aimed to investigate the effects of chitosan application on the yield and quality of rockets. “Bengi” rocket variety was used as a plant material and chitosan was applied to leaves at four different doses (0 (control)–75–150–300 ppm). The results revealed that the yield values varied between 1691–1914 g m-2, plant height between 24.33–27.92 cm, and leaf width between 4.56–5.71 cm among the applications. The total dry matter, chlorophyll, total phenolics, vitamin C, and antiradical activity values were determined to range between 7.71% and 8.68%, 34.15 and 36.68 SPAD, 104.67 and 180.84 mg 100 g–1, 126.63 and 143.51 …

The aim of the study is to obtain polymolecular complexes based on chitosan and Bombyx mori protein. To obtain complexes, protein and chitin are isolated from silk production waste, from which chitosan is synthesized. The optimal parameters for obtaining chitosan and protein determined: temperature, reaction time, concentration of components. The molecular weight and degree of deacetylation of chitosan determined, which are 95-140 kDa and 77-90%, respectively. The chitin and chitosan biopolymers are extremely valuable because of their numerous industrial and pharmacological uses. Chitin and chitosan were extracted from the exoskeleton of Periplaneta americana (cockroaches) and termites using various acid and alkali techniques. The extraction process involves an initial demineralization step, during which integument dry powder was subjected to 500 mL (2.07 mol/L) of concentrated HCl at 100 degrees Celsius for 30 min, followed by meticulous rinsing with distilled water to restore the pH to its baseline. White striping (WS) is a common myopathy seen in fast-growing broilers. Studies have demonstrated that chitosan is effective as an antioxidant and has antiobesity and fat-absorption reduction properties. We hypothesized that the dietary supplementation of chitosan would have similar effects when fed to fast-growing broilers and would thus lower WS incidence and improve meat quality. One hundred twenty-six broilers were fed corn-soy diets. The grower and finisher diets contained either 0, 0.2, or 0.4% chitosan. Herein, bionanocomposites of chitosan (CS)/silver nanoparticle/organoclay/zinc oxide nanoparticle (CS/Ag/OC/ZnO) were prepared for antibacterial food packaging. This study examines the time variation in the AgNP synthesis method by comparing local (74˗85% deacetylated) and commercial chitosan (75%˗85% deacetylated) as a reducing and capping agent and seeks to reconstruct the optimum ratio formulations of AgNPs and ZnONPs in bionanocomposites for food packaging. The results reveal that the synthesis of AgNPs was successfully carried out using a local chitosan solution as a reducing and capping agent. Polymer-enhanced ultrafiltration has gained increasing attention as a selective separation process to remove small solutes, such as metal ions, from water or wastewater. Hexavalent chromium Cr(VI) is one of the metal ions in wastewater that has received considerable attention because of its toxicity. Chitosan was used in this study as the polymer to bind Cr(VI) to enhance its removal by ultrafiltration. The ionotropic gelation method was adopted to prepare diacerein microspheres. This method involves the interaction of two ionic components under certain conditions. Herein, a multifunctional nanobiocomposite was designed for biological application, amongst which hyperthermia cancer therapy application was specifically investigated. This nanobiocomposite was fabricated based on chitosan hydrogel (CS), silk fibroin (SF), water-soluble polymer polyvinyl alcohol (PVA) and iron oxide magnetic nanoparticles (Fe3O4 MNPs). This Study Aimed to Investigate the Potential of Enrichment of Rare-Earth-Bearing Minerals in Historic Mine Tailing using the Froth Flotation Process. Characterization Studies Indicated that Tailings Contained 11,000 Ppm of Rare Earth Elements (REEs). the Major Mineral in the Tailings Was Apatite at ~84%, Which Was Associated with Iron Oxides (~16%). TESCAN's Integrated Mineral Analysis (TIMA) Showed that Monazite Was the Main REE Mineral, and 69% of Monazite Was Locked in Apatite Grains. To investigate the preservation effect of chitosan composite coating on refrigerated mantis shrimps,taking the mantis shrimp as the subject, the chitosan, vitamin C, and corn starch as the coating materials, and the sensory evaluation, total colony (TVC), pH, volatile base nitrogen content (TVB-N), thiobarbituric acid (TBA) as the investigation index, the effects of chitosan-Vc-corn starch composite coating on mantis shrimps was studied. Chitosan plays a crucial role in catalysis, environmental remediation, and sustainable chemistry as a renewable and cationic polysaccharide. Chitosan-based metal catalysts are used in a broad range of chemical transformations. In the study, carbon quantum dots (CQDs) were derived from Momordica charantia fruits by microwave irradiation following a green chemistry approach. Three catalysts were designed: Ag(0)-chitosan, Ag(0)-chitosan-M. charantia fruit powder, and Ag(0)-chitosan-CQDs. Objective: To investigate the effects of platelet-rich fibrin (PRF) and chitosan (Ch) on the healing of superficial digital flexor tendon (SDFT) defects in a donkey model.

Design: Randomized experimental study.

Animals: Eighteen clinically healthy male donkeys. A full-thickness defect of the SDFT was performed at the mid-metatarsus, and tenorrhaphy was performed, leaving a 1 cm defect.
