Effect Of Cardiac Rehabilitation On Left Ventricular Remodeling After Acute Anterior Wall St Segment Elevation Myocardial Infarction Treated By Late Pci Using 3d Echocardiography: A Randomized Study, Sameeh Youssif Mahmoud, Mohamed Ahmed Zaki, Ali Mohamed Alamin, Ibrahim Abdel-Fattah Yassin, Ahmad Mohammad Hassaan

Al-Azhar International Medical Journal

Background: Cardiac rehabilitation (CR) has emerged as a comprehensive intervention including several facets and disciplines, with the primary objective of inhibiting the advancement of cardiovascular disease in individuals diagnosed with conditions of the heart and promoting overall health restoration. The objective of this research was to assess the effect of CR on the process of left ventricular (LV) remodeling, specifically using three-dimensional echocardiography (3D-ECHO) after an episode of acute ST-segment elevation myocardial infarction (STEMI). Methods: This randomized controlled trial (RCT) was carried out on sixty patients who suffered recently from acute STEMI and treated with delayed percutaneous intervention (PCI). Patients …

Health Risk Assessments Of Heavy Metal Concentrations Via Consumption Of An Invasive Species, Carassius Gibelio, From Two Large Freshwater Lakes Of Türkiye, Duygu Ceren Çağlan Kaya Nov 2023

Health Risk Assessments Of Heavy Metal Concentrations Via Consumption Of An Invasive Species, Carassius Gibelio, From Two Large Freshwater Lakes Of Türkiye, Duygu Ceren Çağlan Kaya

Turkish Journal of Zoology

Heavy metal toxicity is a significant threat to human health and the environment. Contamination of the food chain with heavy metals in water sources may impact the health of consumers adversely. This study aimed to determine the concentrations of Pb, Cd, Cr, Cu, and Zn in the invasive fish species Carassius gibelio inhabiting two important lakes in Türkiye: Lake Beyşehir and Lake Eğirdir, from the Lake District Region and assess any health risks posed by the consumption of these species. For this purpose, C. gibelio species were obtained from two lakes in dry and rainy seasons and heavy metal concentrations …

Complementary Multimodal Compartments In The Developing Inferior Colliculus, Roxana Behrooz May 2017

Complementary Multimodal Compartments In The Developing Inferior Colliculus, Roxana Behrooz

Senior Honors Projects, 2010-2019

The auditory system is responsible for detecting, encoding, and deciphering hearing. The inferior colliculus (IC) is a major relay hub situated in the midbrain, that is subdivided into a central nucleus, and surrounding dorsal and lateral cortices. The central nucleus of the inferior colliculus (CNIC) is organized tonotopically based on a frequency gradient and strictly processes auditory information. In contrast, recent studies show that the lateral cortex of the inferior colliculus (LCIC) is actually multimodal, receiving inputs from not just auditory sources, but also somatosensory and visual structures. The precise organization of patterned inputs to the LCIC and their development …

Age And Sex-Specific Effect Of Caloric Restriction On Circadian Clock And Longevity-Associated Gene Expression, Arten Andreyevich Astafev Jan 2017

Age And Sex-Specific Effect Of Caloric Restriction On Circadian Clock And Longevity-Associated Gene Expression, Arten Andreyevich Astafev

ETD Archive

The rhythms in the expression of circadian clock genes are affected by calorie restriction (CR), a dietary paradigm known to increase lifespan. In our current study, we show that circadian rhythms are influenced by sex and the effects of CR are different between males and females. In particular, we found a group of clock genes which showed a sex-dependent difference in expression, as well as in response to CR (Rev-Erb α, Ror γ and both Cryptochromes: Cry1 and Cry2 genes). Two clock genes showed no difference in expression but their response to CR showed sexual dimorphism (Ror α and Rev-Erb …

Bioplastic Production In Cyanobacteria And Consensus Degenerate Pcr Probe Design, Courtney Edward Lane Jan 2015

Bioplastic Production In Cyanobacteria And Consensus Degenerate Pcr Probe Design, Courtney Edward Lane

LSU Doctoral Dissertations

Cyanobacteria show much promise in reducing biodegradable thermoplastic production costs; however, most currently characterized strains are ill-equipped to do so. The result of Objective I produced a high-throughput assay designed to discover existing cyanobacterial strains and rapidly characterize them as PHA-producers or potential PHA-producers. This assay will play an instrumental role in the attainment of a novel cyanobacteria environmental isolate capable of accumulating high levels of PHA naturally. Objective II produced an open source computer program which dramatically speeds the design of similar assays for any arbitrary genetic screening purpose. The program is not limited to this implementation alone. In …

Improved Methods For Cluster Identification And Visualization, Narine Manukyan Jul 2011

Improved Methods For Cluster Identification And Visualization, Narine Manukyan

Graduate College Dissertations and Theses

Self-organizing maps (SOMs) are self-organized projections of high dimensional data onto a low, typically two dimensional (2D), map wherein vector similarity is implicitly translated into topological closeness in the 2D projection. They are thus used for clustering and visualization of high dimensional data. However it is often challenging to interpret the results due to drawbacks of currently used methods for identifying and visualizing cluster boundaries in the resulting feature maps. In this thesis we introduce a new phase to the SOM that we refer to as the Cluster Reinforcement (CR) phase. The CR phase amplifies within-cluster similarity with the consequence …

' The Effect Of Inpatient Cardiac Rehabilitation On Outpatient Cardiac Rehabilitation, Patient And Physician Satisfaction, Patient Quality Of Life, Anxiety And Depression, Stephanie Borris Jan 2010

' The Effect Of Inpatient Cardiac Rehabilitation On Outpatient Cardiac Rehabilitation, Patient And Physician Satisfaction, Patient Quality Of Life, Anxiety And Depression, Stephanie Borris

Digitized Theses

Despite the demonstrated effectiveness of outpatient cardiac rehabilitation (CR) in addressing persisting heart hazards after acute care, typically only 20% of Ontarians participate. This study explores the impact of inpatient cardiac rehabilitation, an intervention focused on risk factor counselling and referral to outpatient CR, on postdischarge uptake of CR services. Subjects’ and physicians’ satisfaction with CR, subjects’ health related quality of life, anxiety and depression, and wait-times for CR intake were examined. Design: In this randomized control trial, control patients received usual inpatient cardiac care plus a group information session pre-discharge, and an automatic CR referral. Case patients received this …

Colorado Utes Indian Water Rights Settlement Act Of 1988, United States 100th Congress

Native American Water Rights Settlement Project

Federal Legislation: Colorado Ute Indian Water Rights Settlement Act of 1988 (PL 100-585, 102 Stat. 2973) The DOI Secretary is authorized to supply water from the Animas-La Plata and Dolores Projects, which cannot be sold or leased into the Lower Colorado River Basin except under limited circumstances. The Tribes can transform a water right into a "CO State water right" and then sell or lease it. Colorado River Compact restrictions apply. The Act disapproves characterization in the Agreement of water rights which may be used off the Reservation as “project reserved water right” or “non-project reserved water right” any claims …

G86-783 Complete Rations -- Should You Feed Them?, Foster G. Owen Jan 1986

G86-783 Complete Rations -- Should You Feed Them?, Foster G. Owen

University of Nebraska-Lincoln Extension: Historical Materials

This NebGuide discusses the advantages and disadvantages of feeding complete rations to dairy herds.

Using the complete ration system for feeding dairy cows has become increasingly popular. Nutritionists generally consider it the ideal method of feeding dairy cattle. Milk production per cow can be maximized, and feed and labor costs minimized, with this system. However, the necessary equipment is expensive and may be excessive for loose-housed herds of less than 100 cows.
