Rapid Identification Of Adulterated Camellia Seed Oil By E-Nose Combined With Chemometrics, Guan-Zhao Yi-Zhu, Fang Fang, Wang Yao-Yao, Tian Zi-Jing, Yang Jian-An, Wang Jian-Hui
Food and Machinery
Objective: To establish a rapid qualitative and quantitative method for the adulteration of Camellia seed oil. Methods: The electronic nose technology combined with chemometrics was used to screen the difference variables based on one-way ANOVA. The qualitative model for identification of adulteration types of camellia seed oil was established through principal component analysis (PCA) and discriminant analysis (DA). A quantitative model for identifying the types and degrees of camellia seed oil adulteration was established using orthogonal partial least squares (OPLS). Results: The R2 of the model was over 0.98, the RMSEE was lower than 0.005, and the RMSECV was …

The prevalence of dietary supplement use among athletes continues to rise with 60–80% of athletes often reporting current or previous use of dietary supplements. While select dietary ingredients have been shown to improve acute performance and enhance training adaptations over time, it is important to still consider the risk vs. reward for athletes before opting to consume a dietary supplement. Previous work has indicated that certain dietary supplements may pose risks for inadvertent doping, may be susceptible to mislabelling, could be banned by certain governing bodies of sport, or pose health risks for certain populations. The purpose of the current …

Application Of Dna Barcoding Technology In The Identification Of Adulterated Ingredients Of Edible Blood Products, Li Jiong, Wu Qiong, Jiang Hai, Hu Ming-Jie, Xu Xin-Yi
Food and Machinery
Objective: A COI sequence-based full-length DNA barcoding technology was established to identify adulteration of seven animal-derived components (including pigs, cows, sheep, chickens, ducks, geese and rabbits) in edible blood products. Methods: After the blood products were extracted and purified by DNA extraction and PCR amplification, the clone sequencing results were submitted to the DNA barcode local database of the 7 blood products for sequence comparison. The pretreatment method, DNA extraction method and PCR amplification conditions of the blood products were also selected and optimized, and various common blood product adulteration models were established to study the lowest adulteration detection rate …

Qualitative And Quantitative Detection Of Camellia Oil Adulteration Based On Electronic Nose, Jiang Han, Li Da-Peng, Wen Tao, Yang Gan, Gong Zhong-Liang
Food and Machinery
Objective: This study aims to realize the adulteration detection of camellia oil mixed with rapeseed oil, soybean oil and corn oil. Methods: The electronic nose detection platform was used for the adulteration detection of camellia oil mixed with different proportion of rapeseed oil, soybean oil and corn oil. Firstly, the linear discriminant analysis (LDA) and support vector machine (SVM) were used for the qualitative identification of camellia oil adulteration. Then multilayer perceptron (MLP) and partial least squares regression (PLSR) were used to establish quantitative prediction models for camellia oil adulteration. Results: The accuracy of SVM for qualitative authentication was higher …

Food and Machinery
In order to solve the problem of fast detection of adulteration of mutton and pork, the spectral collection of adulterated mutton was carried out by using a multi-spectral instrument, and the reflectivity of samples at the band of 350~1 100 nm was obtained. For data preprocessing, Particle Swarm Optimization (PSO) was used to optimize the Least Squares Support Vector Machine (LSSVM), and a Least Squares Support Vector Machine (PSO-LSSVM) model based on Particle Swarm Optimization was established, compared with Partial Least Squares(PLS), Back Propagation Neural Network (BPNN) and LSSVM models. The result showed that PSO algorithm could effectively optimize LSSVM …
Detection Of Honey Adulteration And Potential Biosurfactant Activity Of Honey Samples From Selected Bee Farms In Cavite, Rosana Mariel G. Malabag, Danhelle Khristine M. Rivas, Isabelli Florian G. San Juan
Detection Of Honey Adulteration And Potential Biosurfactant Activity Of Honey Samples From Selected Bee Farms In Cavite, Rosana Mariel G. Malabag, Danhelle Khristine M. Rivas, Isabelli Florian G. San Juan
Bachelor of Science in Biotechnology
Nowadays, honey is rampantly being adulterated to emulate its high demand, such as in the Philippines where 75 to 86.5% of local honeys in the market were reported to be adulterated. Previous studies have shown various ways in authenticating honey, as well as showing the possibility of biosurfactant activity within honey samples. Thus, this study aimed to detect honey adulteration and potential biosurfactant activity of honey samples from selected bee farms in Cavite in order to provide awareness and knowledge in response to the prevalent honey adulteration and the occurrence of potential biosurfactants in honey. Data from eight honey samples …
