Sub-Optimal Tracking In Switched Systems With Controlled Subsystems And Fixed-Mode Sequence Using Approximate Dynamic Programming, Tohid Sardarmehni, Xingyong Song

Mechanical Engineering Faculty Publications and Presentations

Optimal tracking in switched systems with controlled subsystem and Discrete-time (DT) dynamics is investigated. A feedback control policy is generated such that a) the system tracks the desired reference signal, and b) the optimal switching time instants are sought. For finding the optimal solution, approximate dynamic programming is used. Simulation results are provided to illustrate the effectiveness of the solution.

Iron (Fe) and phosphorus (P) are two essential mineral nutrients whose acquisition by plants presents important environmental and economic implications. Both elements are abundant in most soils but scarcely available to plants. To prevent Fe or P deficiency dicot plants initiate morphological and physiological responses in their roots aimed to specifically acquire these elements. The existence of common signals in Fe and P deficiency pathways suggests the signaling factors must act in conjunction with distinct nutrient-specific signals in order to confer tolerance to each deficiency. …

The Application Of Synthetic Signals For Ecg Beat Classification, Elliot Morgan Brown Sep 2019

The Application Of Synthetic Signals For Ecg Beat Classification, Elliot Morgan Brown

Theses and Dissertations

A brief overview of electrocardiogram (ECG) properties and the characteristics of various cardiac conditions is given. Two different models are used to generate synthetic ECG signals. Domain knowledge is used to create synthetic examples of 16 different heart beat types with these models. Other techniques for synthesizing ECG signals are explored. Various machine learning models with different combinations of real and synthetic data are used to classify individual heart beats. The performance of the different methods and models are compared, and synthetic data is shown to be useful in beat classification.

Interactive Simulations In Signals And Systems, Anthony Richardson Mar 2019

Interactive Simulations In Signals And Systems, Anthony Richardson

ASEE IL-IN Section Conference

Several interactive simulations that promote a better understanding of concepts traditionally encountered in an undergraduate Signals and Systems course are described. The simulations were developed to support the text “Signals & Systems: Theory and Applications” by Ulaby and Yagle. The text and all simulation programs are available for free download (ss2.eecs.umich.edu) as part of the Free Electrical Engineering Textbook Initiative from the University of Michigan.

All simulations use graphical control elements that allow the student to interact with the simulation. Many of the simulations use either real audio or image data so that the student can vary parameters of the …
