Attorney Advertising: The Effect On Juror Perceptions And Verdicts, Stephanie Moore Myers
Attorney Advertising: The Effect On Juror Perceptions And Verdicts, Stephanie Moore Myers
UNLV Retrospective Theses & Dissertations
This study examined the effect of attorney television advertising on jurors. Southern Nevada jurors who had served on personal injury and malpractice trials were sent survey questionnaires designed to elicit juror attitudes about attorneys and attorney advertising. The response rate was 53.3%; The major finding was that although respondents generally do not like lawyer television advertising, it does not affect their trial verdicts unless jurors are actually confronted with a plaintiff's lawyer who advertises on television; then, jurors tend to vote for the defense. There is strong sentiment that the law should be changed to limit jury awards. Advertising lawyers …

Consumption Of Over-The-Counter Drugs And Attitudes Towards Over-The-Counter Drug Advertising: A Comparison Between The United States And Hong Kong, Kara K. Chan, Louisa Ha
School of Media and Communication Faculty Publications
A survey of 547 adults from the United States and Hong Kong was conducted to compare their perceptions about functions and consequences of OTC drug advertising and medical decisions when encountering health problems. Results indicate that American and Hong Kong consumers were very similar in their overall perception of functions and consequences of OTC drugs. A large majority of American consumers relied heavily on OTC drugs for all five types of selected health problems in this study. In contrast, Hong Kong consumers took OTC drugs only for specific illness.

Ethics Saved Or A Penny Earned: An Exploratory Discussion Of Legal Advertising Bans, Kenya Burton
McNair Scholars Journal
Advertising is a venue used to reach the masses for many products and services. Whet her it's the image of a basketball icon or a familiar cartoon character, everyone is trying to make an impressionable thirty-second niche that will persuade the public to seek their product or service.
Yet , when there is a multitude of advertisers in one sector, the advertisements can suddenly change from catchy segue to annoying imagery for the consumer. Within the legal industry, many lawyers try to stand out from the brigade of attorneys by advertising their talent to the public. Unfortunately, it is the …

New Players For The Old Tobacco Game: The Czech Republic And Romania; It's Time To Change The Rules, Susan Meyer
Northwestern Journal of International Law & Business
Cigarette and tobacco advertisements have become a part of life in the Czech Republic and Romania. In the Czech Republic, Camel cigarettes, manufactured by R.J. Reynolds, sponsored weddings in which taxis bearing the Camel logo transported guests from the wed- ding to the reception.' In Romania, Kent cigarettes, manufactured by British and American Tobacco Company (BAT), sponsored the ex- tremely popular television show "Dallas."3 Unfortunately, the health consequences of cigarette use, which lead to the annual death of three million people around the world,4 have also become a part of daily life. In 1995, almost 20% of the Czech Republic's …
