The research described here falls into two categories. The first category focuses on outcome, the secondary category focuses on process. The overview includes 27 studies, 14 in the first category and 13 In the second category. Mainstreamed students seem to be more prepared for postsecondary education. Some studies do not rank communication skills when entering the college as among the most important for college performance and the decision to withdraw, and some do. A few studies indicate no correlation between academic performance and the decision to stay or withdraw. Many of the studies support the idea that this interaction is …

Executive Summary: During the 1962-63 academic year, Western participated in a nationwide survey on cheating. In 1993, that survey was recreated and readministered, nationally and at Western, through the auspices of The Center for Academic Integrity--located in the Graduate School of Management at Rutgers University. For the 1993 administration, 302 valid survey forms were obtained from Western students, compared to 54 responses from students in 1962. In both years survey respondents were mostly female (53.7% in 1962 and 63.8% in 1993), and mostly white, non-Hispanic (100% in 1962 and 92.1% in 1993). Common Dimensions Of Social Skills Of Children And Adolescents: A Review And Analysis Of The Literature, Paul Caldarella

Previous research in the area of social skills of children and adolescents has resulted in confusion over the number and name of empirically derived dimensions. While much work has been done to derive empirically based taxonomies of child and adolescent problem behaviors, such is not the case for positive social behaviors. The present study conducted an extensive review, analysis, and synthesis of over two decades of factor analytic research on child and adolescent social skills to derive an empirically based taxonomy.

Two alternative paradigms for undergraduate education are compared; one holds teaching as its purpose, the other learning. The natures of the two paradigms are examined on the following dimensions: mission and purposes, criteria for success, teaching and learning structures, underlying learning theory, concepts of productivity and methods of funding, and faculty and staff roles in instruction and governance.

this milestone, suggestions have been made to designate
1994-95 the "Year of Grundtvig," and to formally observe
with the entire Grand View community the influence of
the great Dane upon the college and its educational philosophy.
What, after all, could be more fitting for a college
whose most recent Academic Mission Statement proudly
declares its founding "by Danish immigrants who sought
to give the educational vision and ideals of N.F.S.
Grundtvig an institutional presence?"

These papers represent the proceedings of the fourth Teaching and Learning Forum conducted in Perth from February 7-9, 1995. Curtin University hosted the first two Forums and we at Edith Cowan University the third and fourth. In 1996 the honour (and the hard work) transfers to Murdoch.
