An Examination Of Open- And Closed-Economic Conditions In Operant Research, Craig R. Loftin
All Graduate Theses and Dissertations, Spring 1920 to Summer 2023
The effect of economic condition on the relation between responding and overall rate of reinforcement has been an area of recent interest in operant research. The present research was conducted to determine whether the manipulation of the economic condition, by the systematic manipulation of the provision of substitute food, has an effect on this relation and whether open- and closed-economies represent two opposing alternatives or two parametric extremes along a continuum. The results of two experiments conducted with pigeons using variable-interval and fixed-ratio schedules of reinforcement suggest that the manipulation of economic condition has a controlling effect on the relation …

An Analysis Of Spatial Patterns And Growth Of Indian Agricultural Activities., Rabindranath Mukhopadhyay Dr.
Doctoral Theses
The main objective of this dissertation has been an empirical identification and evaluation of the regional variations in the pattern and growth of agricultural activities in India during the period 1960-61 to 1980-81, with appropriate use of some of the advanced quantitative methods and statistical tools developed recently in the field of Regional Insolent and Planning. During the period under consideration, the over all national agricultural presumptions have greatly been improved, eliminating India;s dependence on food grain imports, through certain intense-fiction measures initiated at the beginning of the period. Life History Characteristics Of Brachionus Plicatilis (Rotifera) Fed Different Algae, J. Korstad, Y. Olsen, O. Vadstein
College of Science and Engineering Faculty Research and Scholarship
A detailed study of the life history of the rotifer Brachionus plicatilis was done at 20 °C, 20 ppt salinity, and 90 mg C 1−1 food concentration. Rotifers were grown individually in culture plate wells (150 µl culture volume) and fed Isochrysis galbana Tahiti, Tetraselmis sp., Nannochloris atomus, or a l : 1 mixture (weight) of two of the algae. Observations were made every 2–8 hr and rotifers were sized and transferred to new food daily. A total of 19 different parameters were compared. Rotifers fed Isochrysis averaged 21 offspring per female, a 6.7 day reproductive period, a …
