Committing To Equal Opportunity, Elizaveta Minko

Honors Theses and Capstones

The main goal of this research paper was to examine whether the New Hampshire funding system of public education is effective in providing equal educational opportunities to all children. The findings from the quantitative and qualitative analyses of this research study suggest that, despite a historically increasing role of the state government, New Hampshire’s funding system of public education has not proven to be effective in providing the opportunity of an adequate education to students in poor districts, and gaps in student achievement persist between poor and wealthier districts. A New Model Of Procedural Justice: Legal Legitimacy, Legal Cynicism, And Satisfaction With Government Officials, Lindsey R. Phelan

Master's Theses and Capstones

The alternative model of legal socialization proposes that legal legitimacy and legal cynicism mediate the relation between procedural justice and rule-violating behavior (Triter, 2012). The existing scholarship advances several potential explanations for the Ninth Circuit's reversal rate, particularly the Ninth Circuit's reputation as a very liberal court. This study evaluates the Ninth Circuit cases reviewed by the Supreme Court during the 1994-2004 terms to determine whether there are explanatory patterns to the Supreme Court's disposition of cases from the Ninth Circuit over time. Examining the effects of …

Public Leadership: A Study Of The Leadership Practices Of Elected Public Officials In Guam And The Commonwealth Of The Northern Mariana Islands, Florie Nadine Manglona Mendiola

Theses and Dissertations

Elected public officials hold one of the highest levels of leadership. They are voted into office with the belief that they embody the ideals of a good leader and are charged with the all-encompassing task of making crucial decisions that affect all sectors of society and its constituents. There is pressure to produce results, maintain credibility in their performance, and build trust with constituents. It is essential that an assessment tool be used to help leaders gain perspective and understanding in determining the effectiveness of their leadership practices. The opportunities to self-evaluate allow leaders to continuously refine their craft to …
