The purpose of this study was to examine continuing education in foodservice management and higher education focuses on how academic programs view continuing education. Four specific areas were focused upon in this study (1) operational issues in continuing education, (2) program design of continuing education, (3) academic practices related to continuing education, and (4) subject areas of foodservice which could be a part of a continuing education program; When possible, importance and performance scores were calculated, allowing for a robust analysis. The analysis includes general descriptive statistics such as frequencies and means and appropriate inferential statistics.

There are many trends in cyberspace that are directly affecting both universities' education systems and the current job markets. This research provides an overview of some of these computer mediated trends. An Analysis of the Governance and Administrative Elements of a Public-Private Partnership Approach to Community-Based Education is the study of the partnership forged between the W. K. Kellogg Foundation (Kellogg), Prevent Child Abuse America (PCAA), and the United States Department of Agriculture Cooperative States Research Education and Extension Service (USDA-CSREES) in 1994. The partners launched the Healthy Family America (HFA) model through Cooperative Extension's delivery system. HFA is a community-based education program for first-time parents in overburdened families. Building Community In A Virtual Classroom: Construction Of Classroom Culture In A Postsecondary Distance Education Class, Virginia Anne Bielman

The purpose of this dissertation was to investigate how a community was constructed in a postsecondary distance education class that relied only on computer-mediated communications. The use of a social constructionist perspective with Interactional Ethnography provided a theoretical and methodological means to make visible how the actions and interactions of the class members constructed their community. This study was built on and expanded qualitative research in K--12 traditional classrooms, which provided a lens with which to view the processes that shaped on-line community development.
