This thesis itself is designed to be a 'DVD movie' style game, and the movie genre is documentary. The subject matter is my graduate classmates in the Computer Graphics Design department. The target audience of this thesis, based on the movie content and the level of navigation, is high school and over and the computer experience level is intermediate. A descriptive narration of a project to create a computer animated film in both 2-D and 3-D, "Three Stories toward Creation," which depicts three stages of Latin American civilization. The film consists of three episodes: Bachué, a creation myth of the Chibcha people; Broken Pot, which depicts the coming of the Conquistadors, whom many of the native peoples mistook for gods; and Cross of Gold, a symbolic sequence which represents the blending of the Spanish and native cultures. A descriptive narration of a project to create a 3-D computer animated film, "Danny," about a character loosely based on the artist's own younger brother as a child. Like the artist's brother, Danny is cute but destructive. The Danny of the film assembles a robot from household objects. The robot obeys his commands, but when Danny orders the robot to "attack" his toy soldiers, the robot goes berserk, destroying much of Danny's room. The music composed to accompany the film in Berg’s Opera Lulu--the “Film Music Interlude” (FMI)--is the subject of this study. Although this is film music, and Berg wrote his own Film Music Scenario, scholars have ignored writings about film theory and film music in their historical and analytical treatments of the FMI. How do writings about film theory and film music apply to the analysis and exploration of historical and social contexts of the FMI, and what musical and extramusical intentions and extensions can be drawn from the FMI?
