The purpose of this study was to identify the immediate perceived needs of family members of trauma patients and to compare these to trauma nurses' perceptions of the needs of family members of trauma patients. This is important to both the nurses and the families. Analysis of the findings will enable nurses to better assist families in coping with the crisis of a loved one's hospitalization by directly addressing those areas that family members have identified as being most important to them; The study population was 60 nurses at a Level II trauma center, who are directly involved in caring …
