Security And Involvement In The Parent-Adolescent Relationship, Susan J. Thompson

The purpose of this study was the investigation of the dynamics which occur in relationships between parents and their adolescent children. Two hundred and eighty-four adolescents from local high schools were surveyed using the Acquaintance Description Form for Adolescents. They were also asked to take home the Parental Response Questionnaire for their parents to complete. Of these, responses were received from one hundred and seven parents.

The data for this study were obtained in October 1989 through the use of a 128-item questionnaire given to students attending an alternative high school in Ogden, Utah. The Rosenberg Self-esteem Scale was included as part of the questionnaire. A total of 166 usable questionnaires were received from the students.

The objectives of this research were to determine if relationships between self-esteem, race, gender, and religion and time use could be detected in at-risk adolescents. This study examines the effect of training on referrals to an outpatient adolescent sexual offender treatment program. Fifty-two juvenile court probation officers were trained to assess and identify adolescent sex offenders who met program referral criteria. Pre- and post-training tests were administered to measure the effect of training on a subject's knowledge and understanding of sex offender assessment. Utilizing the Juvenile Sexual Offender Decision Criteria Form (University of Washington, 1986), referrals before and following training were evaluated to determine if they met program criteria. The purpose of this study was to assess the effectiveness of human sexuality programs within Catholic secondary schools. This study investigated the effect of comprehensive or non-comprehensive sexuality programs upon students' Positive Sexual Attitudes, awareness of Catholic Church Teachings, integration of Catholic Church Values, integration of current Social Values, and Biological Knowledge.
