Relationships Of Gender On Mathematics Achievement In High Achieving Military-Connected Children, Randi Kay Rose Dalton
Relationships Of Gender On Mathematics Achievement In High Achieving Military-Connected Children, Randi Kay Rose Dalton
Walden Dissertations and Doctoral Studies
The purpose of this quantitative correlational study was to describe the relationship between gender and grade level to mathematics achievement for high achieving military-connected students in Grades 3 through 9 who attended American public schools between 2012 and 2016. The theoretical framework was based on Sax's research on gender differences in learning. The research questions were: if there was a statistically significant difference between the percentage of military-connected students scoring in the top 2 quartiles (at or above the national average) for normal curve equivalent (NCE) mathematics scores on the Terra Nova Third Edition (TNTE) using gender as a predictor; …
A Phenomenological Analysis Of Military Personnel's Experiences Of Toxic Leadership, Nikeisha Sewell Johnson
A Phenomenological Analysis Of Military Personnel's Experiences Of Toxic Leadership, Nikeisha Sewell Johnson
Walden Dissertations and Doctoral Studies
The existing quantitative literature on toxic leadership in the military has primarily explored negative outcomes, gendered military experience, and toxic leadership separately; however, relatively few studies have included all 3. The unidentified connection was critical in determining how toxic leadership varied and left a gap for further research to be conducted from a qualitative, phenomenological perspective. Therefore, this study addressed the manner in which encounters with toxic leadership differed across gender and military rank according to those experiencing it. Using a convenience sampling method, data were gathered through semi structured interviews with 12 Army veterans. Thematic analysis of the data …
Strategies For Improving Energy Conservation On A Military Installation, Samuel Francis Richardson
Strategies For Improving Energy Conservation On A Military Installation, Samuel Francis Richardson
Walden Dissertations and Doctoral Studies
Energy is an essential component required to execute missions throughout military organizations. Failing to sustain energy efficiency in military units could cause mission failures throughout the Department of Defense. As a result, efficient energy management has become a major priority for Air National Guard units as well as other military organizations around the globe. The purpose of this qualitative single case study was to gain an understanding of strategies used by front-line military supervisors to reduce energy consumption through behavioral change on a military installation located in Maryland. The central question explored strategies that front-line military supervisors use to change …
Gender, Social Support, And Resiliency In Suicidal Ideation Among U.S. Army Soldiers, John Franklin Ambrose
Gender, Social Support, And Resiliency In Suicidal Ideation Among U.S. Army Soldiers, John Franklin Ambrose
Walden Dissertations and Doctoral Studies
Suicidal behaviors have continued to increase in the United States (U.S.) Army population since the beginning of the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan. Suicide rates are higher in men compared to women; yet, the rate of suicidal ideation is higher in women than men. The purpose of this study was to determine if there is a correlation between suicidal ideation and protective factors, if social support and resiliency are different for men and women within the U.S. Army population, and if gender acts as a moderating variable between suicidal ideation and protective factors. The interpersonal-psychological theory of suicidal behavior was …
Exploring Relationships Between Resilience, Thinking Styles, And Ptsd Scores In Women Veterans, Tanya Wilson
Exploring Relationships Between Resilience, Thinking Styles, And Ptsd Scores In Women Veterans, Tanya Wilson
Walden Dissertations and Doctoral Studies
In 2013, military leadership took action to lift the ban on women participating in combat roles, thus creating a vital need to understand protective cognitive factors in women veterans exposed to combat. There is no prior research examining the relationship between resilience and thinking styles in this population. The purpose of this quantitative survey study was to examine the predictive relationship between resilience, measured with the Connor-Davidson Resilience Scale, and thinking styles, measured with the Thinking Styles Inventory-Revised 2, on posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD) scores, measured by PCL-5, in women with combat exposure (CE). A cross-sectional design was used. A …
