A Review And Construction Of Career Development Programs In The Elementary School, Chase Driggs May 1969

A Review And Construction Of Career Development Programs In The Elementary School, Chase Driggs

All Graduate Plan B and other Reports, Spring 1920 to Spring 2023

Overview

Every child has a right to acquire his own realistic selfevaluation of the career he intends to pursue, and the process of exposure to occupational information should be permitted and encouraged to start at an early age. From this point of view we need to foster concepts and techniques designed to facilitate the vocational maturation of the child. Interaction with counselors, teachers, parents, and community will increase the student's ability to understand the opportunities of the world of work as it relates to his aptitudes and interests and values and to enable him to be more aware of the …

Stochastic Processes Model And Its Application In Operations Research, Chun Yuan Hsu May 1969

Stochastic Processes Model And Its Application In Operations Research, Chun Yuan Hsu

All Graduate Plan B and other Reports, Spring 1920 to Spring 2023

Just as the probability theory is regarded as the study of mathematical models of random phenomena, the theory of stochastic processes plays an important role in the investigation of random phenomena depending on time. A random phenomenon that arises through a process which is developing in time and controlled by some probability law is called a stochastic process. Thus, stochastic processes can be referred to as the dynamic part of the probability theory. We will now give a formal definition of a stochastic process.

Let T be a set which is called the index set (thought of as time), then, …

Computer Programs For Incomplete Block Designs, Fred Miller May 1969

Computer Programs For Incomplete Block Designs, Fred Miller

All Graduate Plan B and other Reports, Spring 1920 to Spring 2023

In most disciplines where research is involved, there exists an occasional problem of having minimal facilities and/or funds for conducting experiments. This often necessitates the use of designs known as incomplete block designs.

Since the calculations needed to provide an appropriate statistical analysis are somewhat tedious, particularJ..y in the larger designs, it is advantageous to have computer programs to do the necessary calculations.

There are several computer programs at Utah State University written in Fortran II language with Forcom subroutines that perform the analyses for incomplete block designs. These programs, for the most part, were authored by Justus Seely and …

In the last several years monte-carlo simulation has become a major tool for the analysis of complex queuing systems which are no readily amenable to analysis by conventional mathematical methods. By a complex queueing system is mean a system composed of, physically or by analogy, a network of stations or servers with traffic units moving through all or some of the servers, into the system and out or around within the system. A traffic unit desiring service by a server may either have to enter a queue first or may be served immediately. Such systems have been simulated often with …

Graduate Recital, Steven W. Allen May 1969

Graduate Recital, Steven W. Allen

All Graduate Plan B and other Reports, Spring 1920 to Spring 2023

The writer, having performed all of Weber's concertos and Johannes Brahms' "Sonata in F Minor," found it necessary to adopt a change of style and concept in learning and performing the Mozart concerto. The light, flowing style of the young musical genius is a contrast indeed to the flamboyant flagrancy of Weber. Mozart's conception of the phrase, the musical line, the completeness of each melodic statement varies in large measure from that of Carl von Weber and Johannes Brahms.

All Graduate Plan B and other Reports, Spring 1920 to Spring 2023

An ever-increasing number of youth, upon leaving school, are finding employment in the distributive organizations--stores of all kinds, wholesale establishments, brokerage concerns, and other businesses. Studies and investigations show that more extensive and more effective training for employment is one of the outstanding needs of youth and adult workers in these occupations. It was to supply these needs in part, at least that, in succession of vocational a c ts, Congress provided for the training of persons employed in distributive occupations.

J. W. Edgerton, Public Relations Director for thew. T. Grant Company , in commenting on the Nation's strength and …

All Graduate Plan B and other Reports, Spring 1920 to Spring 2023

From 1865 until 1871 the Territory of Utah was the scene of a little-known war. The Ute and Piute Indians responding to pressure of white settlers devastated much of Utah south of Spanish Fork. During the first three years of warfare the Mormon Settlements south of the Utah Valley struggled to exist. The next three years saw improving conditions but a continuation of raids by the Navaho in the south.

This was a private war. Attempts to get government aid were futile. The settlers and the Mormon Church provided the men and equipment necessary. While the problems faced by the …

All Graduate Plan B and other Reports, Spring 1920 to Spring 2023

Purpose of the study

Previous teaching experience is one of the most discussed issues in today's pupil personnel services. We find ourselves in the milieu of a controversy in which we have advocates of one camp who propose that teaching experience can be a handicap in the effectiveness of a counselor; and in the other camp, that teaching experience is a vital prerequisite for counselor effectiveness.

The controversy has reached such proportions that some states, which previously held teaching experience as a necessary requirement for counselor certification, have either changed certification requirements or have worked around the issue by accepting …

A Study Of The Exponential Distirbutions And Their Applications, Michael Chang-Yu Wang

All Graduate Plan B and other Reports, Spring 1920 to Spring 2023

The exponential distribution is a widely known distribution i n statistical theory. It can be regarded as the continuous analogue of the Poisson distribution, discussed by S. D. Poisson in 1837. The Poisson is a limiting form of the Binomial distribution which can be t race d back as early as 1700, discussed by James Bernoulli. A paper by Marsden and Barratt (1911) on the radioactive disintegration of thorium gives a typical frequency distribution which follows the exponential law (8, p. 89). The exponential distribution has achieved importance recently in connection with the theory of stochastic process and has found …
