Identidad Sexual Y Nación En Madre Que Estás En Los Cielos, De Pablo Simonetti, Andrea Parada Dec 2006

Identidad Sexual Y Nación En Madre Que Estás En Los Cielos, De Pablo Simonetti, Andrea Parada

Modern Languages and Cultures Faculty Publications

Framework For Waveband Switching In Multigranular Optical Networks: Part I-Multigranular Cross-Connect Architectures, Xiaojun Cao, Vishal Anand, Chunming Qiao Dec 2006

Framework For Waveband Switching In Multigranular Optical Networks: Part I-Multigranular Cross-Connect Architectures, Xiaojun Cao, Vishal Anand, Chunming Qiao

Computer Science Faculty Publications

Optical networks using wavelength-division multiplexing (WDM) are the foremost solution to the ever-increasing traffic in the Internet backbone. Rapid advances in WDM technology will enable each fiber to carry hundreds or even a thousand wavelengths (using dense-WDM, or DWDM, and ultra-DWDM) of traffic. This, coupled with worldwide fiber deployment, will bring about a tremendous increase in the size of the optical cross-connects, i.e., the number of ports of the wavelength switching elements. Waveband switching (WBS), wherein wavelengths are grouped into bands and switched as a single entity, can reduce the cost and control complexity of switching nodes by minimizing ...

Developing A Cooperative Monitoring Strategy For Lake Ontario: 2008 Intensive Year And Long-Term Sampling Design, International Joint Commission Council Of Great Lakes Research Managers Oct 2006

Developing A Cooperative Monitoring Strategy For Lake Ontario: 2008 Intensive Year And Long-Term Sampling Design, International Joint Commission Council Of Great Lakes Research Managers

Technical Reports

Physical, chemical, and biological stressors have caused profound changes in the Lake Ontario ecosystem and its fish community during the last three decades. In the offshore, cultural eutrophication has been reversed and water quality has improved, but the resulting oligotrophication coupled with invasive species impacts has lowered the carrying capacity of offshore fisheries. Cultural eutrophication remains a problem in the coastal zone possibly exacerbated by altered nutrient cycling related to invasive species. Lake Ontario will likely experience additional ecosystem stress from invasive species, habitat alteration, new contaminants and increasing human populations, particularly in the western basin.

These on-going disruptions in ...

Analysis Of The Existing Water Quality Database For The Sandy Creek And South Sandy Creek Watersheds – 1997 To 2005, Joseph C. Makarewicz, Theodore W. Lewis

Technical Reports

Runoff from agricultural lands containing soil and nutrients poses a known threat to the water quality of embayments and coastal regions of Lake Ontario (Makarewicz 2000). The Lakeview Marsh State Wildlife Management Area in Jefferson County, NY is a prime example of these types of ecologically valuable coastal wetland and embayment habitats. This embayment / wetland complex is fed by the watersheds of Sandy Creek and South Sandy Creek. The mouths of these creeks contain globally rare freshwater dunes, diverse wetlands and several types of globally rare vegetation. Sandy Creek also provides an emergency unfiltered drinking water supply for the Village ...

Delaying Social Security Payments: A Bootstrap, John J. Spitzer Oct 2006

Delaying Social Security Payments: A Bootstrap, John J. Spitzer

Business-Economics Faculty Publications

This paper reconciles previous research outcomes and explains why prior studies offer conflicting recommendations regarding the decision to delay Social Security payments. Using a bootstrap, this paper determines the age at which a retiree is better off deferring Social Security payments when rates of return are not constant. The expected rate of return affects the breakeven age and the rate of return is a function of asset allocation. When life expectancy and realistic investment returns are incorporated into the analysis, there are few circumstances that warrant postponing Social Security payments for early retirees.
