Validation Of Geant4 Atomic Relaxation Against The Nist Physical Reference Data, S. Guatelli, A. Mantero, B. Mascialino, Maria G. Pia, V. Zampichelli Dec 2012

Validation Of Geant4 Atomic Relaxation Against The Nist Physical Reference Data, S. Guatelli, A. Mantero, B. Mascialino, Maria G. Pia, V. Zampichelli

Susanna Guatelli

The accuracy of the Geant4 component for the simulation of atomic relaxation has been evaluated against the experimental measurements of the NIST Standard Reference Data. The validation study concerns X-ray andAuger transition energies. The comparison of the simulated and experimental data with rigorous statistical methods demonstrates the excellent accuracy of the simulation of atomic de-excitation in Geant4.

The Effect Of Bibliographic Instruction On The Demand For Reference Services, E. Stewart Saunders Apr 2012

The Effect Of Bibliographic Instruction On The Demand For Reference Services, E. Stewart Saunders

E. Stewart Saunders

If the effect of bibliographic instruction is to create a more self reliant library user and information seeker, does this mean that bibliographic instruction programs lead to a decline in the demand for reference services? This research analyzes the data for 83 ARL academic libraries over a six year period. A regression equation fitted the data. Each student receiving bibliographic instruction increased the reference demand by two to seven questions.

Ground Improvement With Special Reference To Non-Toxic Chemical Stabilisation And Deep Sub-Surface Drainage, Buddhima Indraratna, Jayan Sylaja J S Vinod, Cholachat Rujikiatkamjorn Jan 2012

Ground Improvement With Special Reference To Non-Toxic Chemical Stabilisation And Deep Sub-Surface Drainage, Buddhima Indraratna, Jayan Sylaja J S Vinod, Cholachat Rujikiatkamjorn

Cholachat Rujikiatkamjorn

In this paper, two advanced ground improvement schemes have been introduced to improve soft and erodible soil properties. The improvement of an unstable formation soil with pH neutral chemical admixture and the sub-surface drainage is described. Internal erosional behaviour of lignosulfonate treated erodible soils has been studied using the Process Simulation Apparatus for Internal Crack Erosion (PSAICE) designed and built at UoW. Effectiveness of lignosulfonate treated erodible soils on the erosion resistance has been investigated and its advantage over conventional methods are presented and discussed. For soft soil formation stabilised by sub-surface drainage, the paper will look at the inevitable …
