Soybeans are an essential agricultural product that is one of the primary food sources in Indonesia, such as tempeh, tofu, soy milk, soy sauce, and other preparations. However, production yields, harvested land area, and soybean productivity in each district or city in Central Java Province vary widely. Differences in soybean productivity in each area are due to production factors such as area, use of fertilizers, seeds, and labor. Iron (Fe) is an essential micronutrient required for plant growth and development. However, its deficiency causes substantial yield losses, particularly in alkaline soils. Soybean (Glycine max) serves as an ideal model to study Fe deficiency chlorosis (IDC) due to its inefficient Fe uptake from the soil. Although the quantitative trait loci (QTL) associated with IDC tolerance were determined in soybean, the specific genes within these QTL regions remain unidentified. Nutrition supplementation can be one of the integrated approaches to reduce gastrointestinal parasite (GIP) infestation. The study objective was to evaluate the impact of supplement type on the performance and resiliency against GIP of nursing lambs raised in woodlands. Katahdin-St. Croix cross lambs (23) with their mothers (18) were divided into two groups; they were rotationally stocked in separate sets of woodland plots and provided with ad libitum hay. Objective: This study aimed to analyze the peptide composition and evaluate the reproducibility of the soybean oligopeptides. Methods: High performance liquid chromatography tandem high resolution mass spectrometry was employed for peptidomic analysis of the soybean oligopeptides prepared at the same condition at different batches. Generality and individuality of the samples were also discussed based on the heat map analysis and principal component analysis (PCA). Results: About 1 000 peptides were identified from each of the materials and most of them were short peptides. Adaptation of soybean to changing environment could be improved by exploitation and introgression of diverse germplasm in breeding program. Phosphorus (P) management is typically done with a focus on the long term, given its impact on soil fertility. The main objective of this study was to evaluate the effect of long-term P placement on corn and soybean yields under a minimum tillage system in Kansas. Long-term research trials were established in Scandia (irrigated field) and Ottawa (rainfed) in 2006. Plant tissue samples can be used to assess nutrient concentrations and the response to phosphorus fertilization. This study aimed to identify critical phosphorus tissue concentrations for corn and soybean at different growing stages. The experiment was conducted at 23 locations for corn in 2021–2022 and 12 locations for soybean in 2017–2020 across Kansas. Tissue samples were collected from whole corn plants at the V6 stage, corn ear leaves at the R1 stage, and whole soybean plants at the V4 stage, and upper trifoliate leaves at the R2 soybean stage. Objective: A multiplex fluorescence PCR method based on TaqMan probe was developed for simultaneous detection of soybean and wheat allergens in food. Methods: TaqMan probe dual PCR was designed and established based on wheat gliadin gene and soybean lectin gene, respectively. The soybean Lectin gene was detected with FAM marker, and the wheat gliadin gene was detected with HEX marker. The photoperiod and temperature sensitivity of the onset of flowering in 106 soybean accessions from the VIR collection has been studied for 8 years in a vegetation experiment in the conditions of Leningrad Province at 59°N, the northernmost point of soybean evaluation in the world. The accessions were previously field-assessed for the ability to form fully developed seeds in this region. In soybean (Glycine max[L.] Merr.), maintaining favorable growth conditions (e.g., water, solar radiation, and nutrients) during the seed filling period is crucial to avoid limitations that could reduce seed weight and ultimately constrain seed yield. The aim of this study was to evaluate the response of corn (Zea maysL.) grain yield to nitrogen (N) fertilizer application and its residual effect on soybean [Glycine max(L.) Merr.] seed yield. During the 2021 growing season, a corn-soybean rotation study was continued at Scandia, KS (USA), evaluating the effect of five N fertilizer rates (0, 53, 107, 161, and 214 lb N/a) applied in corn under both dryland and irrigated conditions. Effects of nitrogen (N), phosphorus (P), and potassium (K) fertilization on a corn/soybean cropping sequence were evaluated from 2013 to 2020 (corn planted in odd years) from a study initiated in 1983. Corn yield was near optimum at 160 lb/a N. Phosphorus and K fertilization alone increased corn yield 31 and 7 bu/a, respectively; and soybean yields 22 and 1.7 bu/a, respectively. As N fertilization increased, the response to P increased corn yield from 13 to 40 bu/a. The best return on fertilizer investment was when the N and P needs were met for both crops.

Double-cropping soybeans after wheat is common in southeastern Kansas and yields of double-crop soybean during the three years of this study were not affected by manage­ment of previous wheat straw practices such as burning or tillage done before plant­ing. However, in the second and third year of the study, subsequent wheat yields were increased by 30% or more when the wheat residue had been burned the previous year.

Seven genotype soybean seeds with different protein content were using as the raw material for natto fermentation. The study was focus on the difference of the sensory quality and properties of mucilage on the surface of natto after fermented by Bacillus subtilis natto. In order to study the biological function of GmWRKY86 gene in soybean on development and resistance against abiotic stress, PCR products of its opening reading frame, ORF) were used to clone GmWRKY86 gene, and the gene expressions in different tissues were detected by using real-time fluorescence quantitative PCR (qRT-PCR). Sequence analysis showed that the GmWRKY86 gene can encode 523 amino acids with an isoelectric point of 8.15, a molecular weight predicted to be 56.82 kDa, and an open reading frame of 1 572 bp. To investigate its expression patterns and active cis-elements, a 2040-bp 5'-upstream genomic DNA fragment of GmSBH1,named GmSBH1P, was isolated by PCR walking and characterized. Sequence analysis revealed that the fragment contains a series of cis-acting elements related to stress responses. The transient expression assay in the leaves of Nicotiana benthamiana and in the cotyledonary nodes of soybean indicated that the GmSBH1P strongly and rapidly mediates the induction of GUS expression under HTH stress. Charcoal rot is a soil-borne disease that is prevalent in southeast Kansas. The disease infects multiple crops, including soybean, and causes yield reductions. A high-gluco­sinolate mustard with biofumigant properties reduced the population levels in soil and in soybean plants of the fungus (Macrophomina phaseolina) that causes charcoal rot. In this study, management practices that incorporate use of mustard as a cover crop in soybean production systems were tested. Results indicate that tillage increases the char­coal rot fungus.
