Comparative Evaluation Of Investigation Methods For Estimating The Load-Dependent State Of Charge And End Of Discharge Of A Multirotor Uav Battery, Hanna Dibbern, Morten Roßberg, Claudia Werner

Journal of Aviation Technology and Engineering

As the scope of multirotor unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) applications increases, more attention is being paid to UAV energy requirements, which vary depending on the mission profile. To obtain accurate information about the UAV battery during flight, the idea of a digital twin including a battery state estimation model is promising. For battery state estimation, a Kalman filter combination is the preferred approach in the literature. Comparing different Kalman filters, the unscented Kalman filter has a more accurate estimation for nonlinear systems compared to the extended Kalman filter. In the application of UAV flight with load-dependent flight missions, the comparison …

Optimized Modeling Of Ni-Mh Batteries Primarily Based On Taguchi Approach And Evaluation Of Used Ni-Mh Batteries, Hani Muhsen, Ahmad Al-Muhtady Jan 2019

Optimized Modeling Of Ni-Mh Batteries Primarily Based On Taguchi Approach And Evaluation Of Used Ni-Mh Batteries, Hani Muhsen, Ahmad Al-Muhtady

Turkish Journal of Electrical Engineering and Computer Sciences

This paper aims to generate an optimized model of the Ni-MH battery based on the Taguchi method and it further aims to evaluate used Ni-MH batteries that served in hybrid electric vehicles and electric vehicles. The status of twelve used Ni-MH batteries is studied to determine their usefulness after their life cycle in automotive applications. The status of used batteries is evaluated by investigating their state of charge, remaining useful life, and degradation in performance. Accordingly, the tested batteries are classified into four categories and they are proposed to serve in different applications. The novelty of the work lies in …

Reliability Assessment Of A Standalone Wind-Conventional/Energy Storage System Using Probabilistic Production Simulation Method, Hossein Delavaripour, Behzad Mirzaeian Dehkordi Jan 2015

Reliability Assessment Of A Standalone Wind-Conventional/Energy Storage System Using Probabilistic Production Simulation Method, Hossein Delavaripour, Behzad Mirzaeian Dehkordi

Turkish Journal of Electrical Engineering and Computer Sciences

This paper presents a reliability evaluation technique for a small standalone system including wind and conventional resources integrated with an energy storage system. A battery bank is considered as the energy storage system. The focus in this analysis is on the effect of battery modeling and its performance on system reliability. In this way, this paper presents an accurate model for the electrochemical batteries, which takes into account all the influential characteristics of the battery related to reliability studies, such as depth of charge, efficiency of charge, and rate of discharge. The proposed reliability evaluation method is based on the …
