Managing Recurrent Delayed Pleural Effusion Post Rib Fracture In An Elderly Female, Yaseen Ramadan, Fnu Swatisikta, Mushfeka Baker Golawala

INTRODUCTION Delayed pleural effusion (DPL) post rib fracture is a lesser known and not adequately studied entity. DPL is associated with increased hospital/ICU length of stay (LOS) and poorer disposition at discharge. Some case series have reported incidence as high as 40.8 % making it a clinically significant complication to watch for.
CASE An elderly female presented to the ED after a mechanical fall leading to right side fractured ribs (5th to 9th rib posteriorly) and pneumothorax. Patient was hypoxic in ER and an ICD was placed. Trauma series showed right pulmonary contusion but no hemothorax or any other injury. …

Experience a festive garland of heartwarming carols such as Cameron Roses’ Infant Holy and selections from John Rutter’s Gloria, Leonard Bernstein’s Chichester Psalms, and Benjamin Britten’s Ceremony of Carols. The centerpiece of the Christmas concert includes Z. Randall Stroope’s Magnificat, Shawn Kirchner’s setting of Brightest and Best, Paul Stookey’s Christmas Dinner arranged by Stephen Zork, and the reverent symphonic setting of See Amid the Winter’s Snow by Dan Forrest. The concert, presented in a collaborative purpose by instrumentalists and vocalists from the Department of Music, is designed to inspire you to serve those that Jesus Christ came to save.

The largest composition on this program is jazz legend Duke Ellington’s orchestral masterpiece The River, which he completed in collaboration with orchestrator Ron Collier. The full composition was commissioned by the American Ballet Theater, and so tonight’s program features the standard “Suite” of musical selections extracted from that ballet. Beginning as a delicate Spring, this Suite includes seven watery miniatures such as Meander, Giggling Rapids, Lake, and Vortex. The contrasts in energy and color are striking! Ellington’s ballet originally debuted in 1970 at Lincoln Center in New York City. Alongside Ellington’s geographical and stylistic journey, the AUSO will present two …

Peruvian cellist Taide Prieto and Mexican pianist and conductor Francisco Fernandez comprise Duo of Hope. Together they have performed in the United States, Latin America, and Europe. Currently, they are pursuing graduate degrees in music performance at the University of Michigan. Duo of Hope will perform an all-Tchaikovsky program that will include some of his most beautiful vocal works transcribed for cello and piano by Taide Prieto as part of her doctoral dissertation.

As a native of Slovakia, Dr. Kemble has always been inspired by the cultural and mesmerizing aspects of music, especially when it comes to chamber music. A versatile performer, Aleksandra holds flute-teaching positions at Andrew’s University (MI), Indiana’s University of South Bend (IN), Goshen College (IN), and St. Mary’s College (IN) and is the principal flutist of the Elkhart Symphony (IN). Aleksandra received her Master’s Degree from the Chopin Academy of Music in Warsaw, Poland, and her Doctor of Arts Degree in flute performance from Ball State University in Muncie, Indiana.
