Chapter X — Where To, Ethiopia?, Messay Kebede
Ethiopian Modernization: Opportunities and Derailments
In the wake of the dethronement of the TPLF, Ethiopia was presented with four options arising from the implementation of ethnonationalist ideology and policies for 27 years. The options have generated politico-ideological movements that compete for the seizure of power in Ethiopia. Broadly speaking, these movements can be viewed as different stands in relation to Article 39 of the constitution granting ethnic groups an unconditional right to self-determination, including secession (see previous chapter). Let us briefly examine the four positions with the view of clearly demarcating the lines separating them.

Easter Sermon: A Carpenter In The Face Of Danger, Earl Clement Davis
Easter Sermon: A Carpenter In The Face Of Danger, Earl Clement Davis
Sermons, 1905-1919
This is from the bound collection—“bundle #5”—that includes sermons from January 2, 1910 to January 15, 1911.
A brief retelling of the last supper and Jesus' personal struggle in the Garden of Gethsemane. This is a moment Davis revisits repeatedly throughout his life, stating it as a "sublime moment in the life of a man, sublime moment in the history of humanity." Davis is concerned that the conventional ceremony, "the Lord's Supper," does not do justice to the power of that moment in history.

Manuscripts, 1933-1953

Authors mentioned include, Hervey Allen's Anthony Adverse, Honoré de Balzac, Victor Hugo, Alexandre Dumas, Leo Tolstoy, Knut Hamsun's Growth of the Soil, John Galsworthy's The Forsyte Saga, Mazo de la Roche's Jalna series, and Sinclair Lewis' Main Street and Babbitt.

This was a talk that Earl Davis gave at a conference. We have yet to identify the conference or its exact date, but internal evidence – referencing the past “Hoover Administration” and the Roosevelt Administration “brain trust” -- suggests this was presented in 1934 or shortly thereafter.
This writing is a good representation of Davis' core views, drawing from the history of Congregationalism into a discussion of new problems. He ends with a a poem by Jean Untermeyer.

Honors Capstone Projects
Religious involvement in care for those living with mental illness has been going on for centuries, and perspectives on it have changed throughout the years. This literature review evaluates the place of religious groups, mainly Christian churches, in today's mental health situation by considering past and present involvement. It incorporates sources regarding different eras of mental hospital reform, modern perspectives of mental health clinicians and clergy, and the current gaps in mental health support among a variety of groups, including veterans, African Americans, and people in developing countries. This review then considers potential future involvement, especially considering how these gaps …
