A Messiah Student’S Response To The Pandemic, Christian Valen
A Messiah Student’S Response To The Pandemic, Christian Valen
Covid Chronicles @ Messiah
Navigating through all the uncertainties and apprehension caused by the COVID-19 pandemic has been an epic journey for me. The constant changes, the upheavals, and lack of clarity all seem to exacerbate the angst. In the midst of all this though, I discovered something about myself. A lot of my discovery has to do with my last three years spent as a student at Messiah College....

Equilibrium: Reflections From A College Counselor During Covid-19, Aubrey Kleinfeld
Equilibrium: Reflections From A College Counselor During Covid-19, Aubrey Kleinfeld
Covid Chronicles @ Messiah
Equilibrium...The word emerged almost 30 years later on the Friday before spring break when I sat in my office in Hoffman at 4pm with a client who was processing the receipt of the email suggesting due to Covid-19 we may not return back to school after spring break as planned. We sat in the vertigo of unknowing, security being upended, with only the equilibrium of each other’s presence in the here and now....

Mentorship Impact: Underrepresentation Of Women In Higher Education Leadership, Janice M. Johnson
Mentorship Impact: Underrepresentation Of Women In Higher Education Leadership, Janice M. Johnson
2020 Projects
Noticeably, women are underrepresented in higher education leadership (Airini et al., 2011; Brock, 2010; Diehl & Dzubinski, 2016; Hannum, Muhly, Shockley-Zalabak & White, 2015; Jones & Palmer, 2011; Smith & Slate 2018). The underrepresentation of women in higher education leadership roles may have an impact on colleges and universities hiring, developing, and retaining excellent and diverse faculty members and therefore excellence and diversity in future leaders. This convergent parallel mixed methods pilot action research study employed a feminist theoretical framework to examine how and to what extent mentorship opportunities affect the career development of women leaders in higher education.

[Introduction To] Writing Centers At The Center Of Change, Joe Essid, Brian Mctague
Bookshelf
Writing Centers at the Center of Change looks at how eleven centers, internationally, adapted to change at their institutions, during a decade when their very success has become a valued commodity in a larger struggle for resources on many campuses.
Bringing together both US and international perspectives, this volume offers solutions for adapting to change in the world of writing centers, ranging from the logistical to the pedagogical, and even to the existential. Each author discusses the origins, appropriate responses, and partners to seek when change comes from within a school or outside it. Chapters document new programs being formed …
