The town of Norwood, N.C., is situated on the Pee Dee River and near the Uwharrie National Forest, offering residents several places to hunt and fish. Gardner-Webb University senior Ally Ward grew up there and took up bow hunting when she was in middle school. The hobby began as a bonding time for Ward and her dad.

While working for Crosswalk.com, a website that features biblically-based content to Christians, Lauren Sanchez, a 2011 alumna of Gardner-Webb University was given an opportunity to write about her Christian college experience. An English major with a creative writing emphasis, Sanchez lives in Richmond, Va., and has worked as an editor for BibleStudyTools.com and as a temporary content publishing associate for Crosswalk.com, both owned by Salem Web Network, an Internet provider of Christian content and online streaming.

The Satori is a student literary publication that expresses the artistic spirit of the students of Winona State University. Student poetry, prose, and graphic art are published in the Satori every spring since 1970.

We open the text with a discussion on the sentence and then break it down into its elemental components, before reconstructing them into effective sentences with paragraphs and larger academic assignments. Following that, we provide instruction in paragraph and essay writing with several opportunities to both review the fundamentals as well as to demonstrate mastery and move on to more challenging assignments.
