During a time of increasing physician shortages, health care leaders must identify successful physician retention strategies. Health care leaders are concerned with physician retention, as a lack of physicians minimizes patient access to care. Most military veterans who reside in a central U.S. city have not entirely used their Montgomery G.I. Bill (MGIB) education benefits to advance their careers. But there is limited research on veterans’ views of the effect of certain barriers on academic persistence. This study addressed this lack of information on barriers preventing military veterans from fully using the benefits of the MGIB. Military deployments of a caregiver have a powerful and potentially damaging impact of the attachment bond between the service member and their child with autism spectrum disorder (ASD). Research has shown that children with ASD react to their caregiver’s departure, that they direct more social behavior to the caregiver than to a stranger, and that many of them increase their proximity seeking behavior after separation from the caregiver. Employee turnover is extremely costly to organizations, which concerns business leaders in the United States because organizations invest time and money in resources such as recruiting, hiring, onboarding, and training. Grounded in systems theory, the purpose of this multiple case study was to explore strategies employers use to retain military spouse talent. This research study question focused on licensed mental health counselors’ experiences when providing therapy to transgender veterans. The purpose of this qualitative research study was to gain insight into the experiences of counselors providing treatment to transgender veteran clients to improve the retainability of transgender veterans seeking mental health care. This study used the research design of hermeneutics to analyze and interpret data gained from in-person interviews. Many past researchers have reported problematic issues and challenges with militarypersonnel transitioning to civilian life and to the civilian workplace. The purpose of this qualitative study was to explore the lived experiences of 20 retired military officers who had between 24 and 42 years of military service regarding how they may have experienced the losses of social identity and organizational socialization and how those losses may have impacted their second careers in civilian organizations.
