Chromatographic Studies On The Properties Of Polypyrrole And Polyaniline, Hawick Chriswanto Jan 1995

Chromatographic Studies On The Properties Of Polypyrrole And Polyaniline, Hawick Chriswanto

University of Wollongong Thesis Collection 1954-2016

This thesis describes a study of the physicochemical properties of conductive polymers. Although these polymers have been investigated extensively for more than a decade, studies of their properties employing chromatographic methods are still very limited. In this work high performance liquid chromatography was employed to investigate the properties of polypyrrole and polyaniline. Their performance as a chromatographic stationary phase was also examined.

For the purpose of this study polypyrrole containing chloride and dodecylsulfate, and polyaniline with chloride, were chemically synthesized and deposited on to silica particles. The surface coating was determined by elemental analysis. Series of standard test compounds were …

Thermal Studies Of Conducting Electroactive Polymers, Reza Ansari Jan 1995

Thermal Studies Of Conducting Electroactive Polymers, Reza Ansari

University of Wollongong Thesis Collection 1954-2016

Conducting polymers have in the past been plagued by either poor environmental or poor thermal stability. Indeed, many of the applications envisioned for these materials require a high level of conductivity, thermal and environmental stability. In all these applications, the long-term stability of the polymer determines the limits of its use. This stability is then assessed in terms of the property of interest, such as: conductivity, electroactivity, chemical or mechanical properties.

The present work is concerned with thermal studies based on polypyrrole and polyaniline conducting polymers. The effect of exposing conducting polymerss to elevated temperatures on the electroactivity and conductivity …
