This project utilized PHP to write an application component for the Graduate Advising System (GRADS) computer program used by the Computer Science Department at California State University, San Bernardino. This application component allows the applicant to apply to the Computer Science program and to track the progress of his or her application. It allows people writing recommendations on the student's behalf to submit the recommendations via GRADS. It allows the Graduate Assistant to monitor the status of the application. It allows the Coordinator to review and evaluate the submitted application/ recommendation package.

The purpose of the project was to develop an Internet resource for high school teachers who teach higher level chemistry, which includes organic chemistry. This Organic Chemistry WebQuest will foster a student-directed learning environment that will enable students to do two things: (1) students will learn basic and organic chemistry nomenclature and be able to write chemical equations involving organic molecules, and (2) students will be able to use various technologies to present items to their peers and others.

The purpose of this study was to explore and assess the impact of early intervention programs on child welfare cases, in particular, Southern California Child Welfare Agency (SCCWA) emergency response cases. With changes in child abuse laws and an increase in the number of children being placed in out-of home care, SCCWA is under pressure to develop and implement programs that focus on three priority outcomes: improve permanence, improve safety, and reduce the number of children being removed from their home.

Actions Of A Partial D2-Like Agonist During Low Or High Dopaminergic Tone: A Neurochemical Study Using Preweanling Rats, Shelly Taeko Yoshida

The neurochemical effects of partial D2-like agonists (i.e., terguride) to alter striatal DOPA accumulation under high and low dopaminergic tone was examined in preweanling rats. The results indicate that terguride has agonist-like (quinpirole-like) effects under a low dopaminergic tone and antagonist-like (haloperidol-like) effects under a high dopaminergic tone during the preweanling period.

The purpose of this project was to examine whether or not caregivers who own pets experience less loneliness, depression, anxiety and stress as compared to caregivers who do not own pets. Quantitative data was obtained through a sample survey of 150 random caregivers served by Inland Caregiver Resource Center (ICRC). Qualitative data was obtained through five open-ended questions included in the survey. The study found a significant increase in loneliness among caregivers who own pets.

Stepparents: Social Support Systems And Factors That Contribute To Role Fulfillment, Lydia Guerrero, Sonia Marlene Valadez

Forty-five stepparents responded to four scales: Perceived Social Support Friend Scale, Perceived Social Support Family Scale, Kansas Family Life Satisfaction Scale and the Kansas Parental Satisfaction Scale. The study found a significant positive correlation between family and friend support and stepparents' role fulfillment.

Social Support And Mental Health Outcomes In Battered Women, Alicia Kay Vallellanes, Kelley Ferris

This study examined the relationship between perceived social support and negative mental health outcomes in battered women. Correlations between perceived social support and depression, anxiety, and post-traumatic stress disorder were analyzed. Perceived social support, particularly from family members, was found to be significantly related to mental health outcomes. Results indicate that agencies that work with battered women should include social support in the assessment and intervention processes. The study utilized a quantitative survey design with a sample of 120 battered women from four domestic violence agencies throughout Riverside and San Bernardino counties. This thesis proposes that by producing and existing within a translingual text, the ethnofeminist has found a way to subvert others' construction of her and redefine her identity. In particular, the ethnofeminist uses code switching to select and reinvent meaning from the language system of the dominant culture while maintaining the language system of the "marginal" group. In combining two (or more) language systems within a literature she has created her own language.
