The Relationship Of Perceptual Learning Modality Preference And The Use Of An On-Line Learning Environment To Achieve Non-Technology Related Course Objectives, Patricia M. Nickel

Student Work

The purpose of this thesis study was to explore the possibility of a relationship between perceptual learning modality preference and efficacy in the use of an on-line learning environment to achieve non-technology related course objectives. Subjects were 30 adult students enrolled in the CaseNET course administered by the University of Virgina. Two research questions were explored: 1.) Is there a difference in feelings of student efficacy, in a course which uses Internet technology to achieve non-technology related course objectives, for auditory, visual, and tactile learners? 2.) A Level System As A Reliable Indicator Of Behavioral Progress For Students With Severe Behavioral Disorders, Jill Lynn Snodgrass

Student Work

Students who exhibit behavioral problems represent a large segment of the school-age population. Level systems provide a hierarchy of behaviors as a guide for students to eventually build a repertoire of increasingly complex behaviors.

The Effects On Third Grade Students' Learning When Discipline–Based Arts And Social Studies Curricula Are Integrated, Linda K. Kulm

Student Work

This study examines the effects on third grade urban students when taught the social studies curriculum integrated with discipline-based arts curriculum. Three students were randomly chosen to represent high, moderate, and low ability levels. This is a qualitative research project using a triangulation of data, namely observation, interview, and analysis of products. The findings suggest that the integration of a discipline-based arts curriculum with a social studies curriculum enhances student learning, interest, and production. This method also allows students and teachers to identify learning styles and specific intelligences.

The Use Of Guided Reading Strategies By Second-Grade Students In A Regular Classroom Setting, Jaime Mayer Jul 1998

The Use Of Guided Reading Strategies By Second-Grade Students In A Regular Classroom Setting, Jaime Mayer

Student Work

Guided reading, a context in which a teacher supports a reader's development of effective strategies for processing texts at increasingly challenging levels of difficulty, is a relatively new practice in the field of education. A review of current literature indicates that little research has been conducted which identifies the results of incorporating guided reading instruction into the curriculum. A Comparison Of Selected Measures Of Academic Performance And Student Behavior At Bryan Senior High School Before And After Implementation Of Block Scheduling, Margaret M. Naylon

Student Work

This study examines the effects of a restructuring effort: the implementation of block scheduling in an Urban Nebraska public high school. Scheduling is a valuable resource for school improvement. Scheduling is frequently overlooked, even though it is more often the structure of an organization than the inadequacies of the people who work within it that cause the problem (Bogdan, 1992). Despite research findings which indicate the traditional schedule may not be the most effective, most American schools are organized in the same pattern as they have been for the past seventy years (Carroll, 1990). Block scheduling is a relatively new …
