As the decade of the 1980s draws to a close, it ushers in the last decade of the twentieth century. "New Age" thinking, which attempts to withhold judgement and accept individuals as unique and necessary to the whole, challenges society to more fully understand those issues such as homosexuality which have in the past caused division. New Age thinking is defined by the researcher as a philosophy in which an holistic approach to health is essential. Mind, body, and spirit— respect for these is a healthy life.

Adolescent pregnancy has received a great deal of publicity in the past few years. This attention has intensified with new studies revealing increased incidence. The American Association for Counseling and Development (AACD) has addressed the issue in its several journals as well as the Guidepost. Most recently Maynard and Olson (1987) discussed the importance of using diagnostic inventories especially by those school counselors who would involve family members in the counseling experience.

Previous research has examined sex of evaluator and sex-type of jobs as sources of systematic bias on job evaluation ratings. The present study attempted to go beyond the global notion of sex of evaluator and examine the effect of the information processing characteristics associated with an evaluator's gender self-schema on evaluation ratings. Gender self-schema theory states that gender self-shematics possess more and have increased processing efficiency to relevant gender information. It was proposed that the content and information processing characteristics associated with gender self-schematics would increase the rating accuracy of gender relevant jobs and job evaluation factors. In organizations such as OPPD, decision making and information sharing flows generally from the top down. Organizational stability is reached by establishing and maintaining standard operating procedures, and control is ever concentrated atop the pyramid.
